    3. The website: http://www.ancestryireland.com/index.php is a rather expensive one. To view records from a search you must purchase a credit for 6 pounds (about 12 dollars)--this entitles you to see 5 items from the search. You cannot transfer the credits to another search, nor can you use soundex in the search, and you must use a first name. Searching for the birth of Robert Beattie in 1830--I found no listing for that year and spelling. Searching for Robert Beatty (Beattie is a very unusual spelling in the early Irish records) I found the following MARRIAGE: 4-22-1856 Robert Beatty, Newtownards Townland/street, Farmer, Presbyterian, previously unmarried, father's name, Robert Beatty (farmer). Witness for husband, Michael Robb. Wife's name Alice Johnston, Dundonald Townland/street, Presbyterian, spinster, Father's name John Johnston; witness Agnes Robb; Comber 2nd Presbyterian, Town Ards, Area Comber, Co. Down. There were several Robert Beattys born in Co. Down Circa 1830: Robert Nicholson Beatty born 10-13-1825, Donacloney Presbyterian, Banbridge, Co. Down; father Robert Beatty Robert Beaty born 2-8-1834, 1st Dromore Presbyterian, Banbridge, Co. Down; father Robert Beaty Robert Beatty born 7-9-1830, Seapatrick Church of Ireland, Banbridge, Co. Down; father John Beatty, mother, Margaret Sloan, Coolnacrew Street Robert Beatty born 12-18-1831, 1st Rathfriland Presbyterian, father William Beatty, Tullyguilly St., Newry & Mourne, Co. 3. Laurel, I have actually visited a Robert Beatty Farm in Comber, Co., Down, North Ireland. A Robert Beattie, deceased, took me there to visit his "Old Family Farm" and also showed me the church cemetery that his family was buried in with their tombstones when we visited in 1986. I believe it was a Presbyterian Church. This was his family line that I listed for you. This Robert (1) Beatty that married an Alice (Unknown to me but could be Johnston.) had one of their sons named Hugh Johnston Beatty (possibly his mother's maiden name) and their first daughter was named Agnes possibly for her witness (maid-of-honor). In addition, one of their sons, William, was born in 1857. That is the only birth date I have but all of this seems to fit will the marriage date of 22 Apr 1856 and information that you found. There is a chance that I may be able to get the name of the church where the family cemetery is located and the address for their family farm site from his widowed wife, Margaret, that we are still in contact. I have some pictures taken at the grave site an a few at the old farm. Thanks again for this information, Barry L - 98 At 11:15 AM 2/26/2007, you wrote: >The website: >http://www.ancestryireland.com/index.php > >is a rather expensive one. I'm sure you have the Revolutionary War Pension application of James Beaty of Rutherford Co., TN in which he states that he was born in Nottingham township, Chester Co., PA in about 1752. I found the following 2 births at http://www.ancestryireland.com/index.php Births William Beaty, 8/29/1763 Father John Beaty; mother Margaret Fife Belfast, County Antrim; Church of Ireland Beaty, Robert, 8/19/1763 Father John Beaty, mother Elizabeth Hanley Belfast, County Antrim; St. Anne's Civil Parish Has anyone ever used the research services of the Ulster Society, available on the above link? I thought I might try them and see if they could find anything on the William Beatty, merchant of Belfast, who recruited many Beatty immigrants to come to America in the 1760s and 1770s. William Beatty even made a trip to Charleston himself, leaving his son William in charge of his interests in Belfast: Belfast Newsletter Index: 50883 17 Jan. 1766 page 3=Beatty,William +Belfast depart +South!Carolina ship $Prince/of/Wales. noticepublished paper intrusted son =Beatty,William/Jr. management affairs absence friends customers countenance favour indebted pay receipt servant 16. Yesterday I spent a few hours at the DAR Library looking at Irish books--I was disappointed at how few books on Irish genealogy were in the library. I copied from a few and then found most pages I had copied had already been posted to the BP2000 mailing list. Here is one book I did not see previously posted: Irish Genealogical Abstracts from the Londonderry Journal, 1772 -1784, by Donald Schlegal, Clearfield Co., 1990 Page 28: Feb. 4, 1774 Londonderry. Died: William Beaty, Dungiven, age 130 years (not a typo!) Page 71: Jan. 24, 1777 Married: John Beaty, book seller, Skinner row, to Miss Isa. Turvey of Leixlip. Page 91 Jan. 12, 1779 Londonderry. Author: Guambaby Surnames: Classification: obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.montana.counties.flathead/4373/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Marshall W. Beatty, 81, passed on "to be with the love of his life, his wife Carol," on Nov. 15, 2006, at Brendan House. He was born in Great Falls on Sept. 3, 1925. He attended school in Great Falls until enlisting in the U.S. Navy in January 1944. In 1946 after discharge from the Navy, he started working for the State Highway Department in the Olney area. He retired from there in 1983. Pop, as he was affectionately referred to, loved to stay busy. He was always tinkering around the house, remodeling, building and farming. If there was a friend or family member who needed help he was there to assist. In September 1948 he married the love of his life, Carol Appleberry, in Portland. Their first home was at Nyack where Pop was employed with the highway department. In the early '60s they moved to the Kalispell, where they lived until 1990, when they moved to Florence, Ore. There they lived for several years, enjoying the lack of snow and beautiful beaches. On Aug. 23, 1998, Carol passed away. Marshall returned to Kalispell, in 2003, to be near family. Marshall is survived by two sons, Lee and Elaine of Seeley Lake, and Wayne and Teri of Kalispell; and one daughter, Lisa and Anwar Shamoon, of Eugene, Ore. He also is survived by six grandchildren, Jason and Trista Beatty of Kalispell, Angela and Joe Beatty of Missoula, Robert Beatty of Seattle, and William Shamoon of Eugene. He is also survived by nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol; and his son, Ray. Pop will be greatly missed. A memorial will be arranged in the spring.
