    3. I can't find Perrysburg, IA so I don't have a county for the Wm. Beatty, brother, of Iowa. The only reference I can find is a woman in 1911 named Myers going to visit her dau who was a teacher at Perrysburg, IA. The woman was in Woodbury co., IA (town of Anthon). Probably Perrysburg is in western IA. Donna L-3) The Marion Daily Star (Marion Co., OH) March 4, 1881 Wm. Beatty of Iowa is in the city, a guest of his brother Robert, on South street. They had not met for some 24 years, until yesterday. The Marion Daily Star (Marion Co., OH) March 27, 1886 Robert Beatty left this afternoon for Perrysburg, Iowa whither he is called by the serious and perhaps fatal illness of a brother. 3. This Samuel is right on the border of Franklin and Cumberland. His dates are pretty close. He is probably L-274. The other Samuel listed as a child of John and Elizabeth Wherry makes more proof necessary. The son Samuel Quigley is a good indication he is probably L-274. Descendants of Samuel Beattie Generation No. 1 1. SAMUEL3 BEATTIE (JAMES2, UNKNOWN1) was born Aug 1805 in Southampton Twp., Cumberland Co., PA, and died 08 Jul 1854 in Shippensburg, Cumberland Co, PA. He married LUCINDA ALLEN 09 Dec 1830 in Middle Spring Presb Ch. Cumberland co., PA, daughter of WILLIAM ALLEN and LUCINDA FULTON. She was born 01 May 1809 in Southampton Twp., Cumberland Co., PA, and died 10 May 1884. Notes for SAMUEL BEATTIE: Is this the correct child? Samuel born cir 1805/6??? It says son of John. Were there 2 Samuels? The church record shows a Samuel born cir 1805 is the son of John and Elizabeth Wherry. At this time it is unknown whether James or John is the father of Samuel who married Lucinda Allen. John's son Samuel Wherry may have died because he is not on the 1820 census with John. 1. [BP2000] Will of Nancy Beatty Buffle, 1881, Fayette Co PA
    2. Laurel Baty
    3. This will shows that the estate of Nancy Beatty Buffle's father, Thomas Beatty, who died in 1840 in Fayette County, Pennsylvania, had not been completely settled by 1881. Mary Beatty, widow of Thomas Beatty, lived until 1856, according to the will of Nancy Buffle. There is an item indexed in the Orphans Court Dockets for a Mary Beatty, partition, Book 14, page 151, dated 1886. This could possibly be a partition land sale for the widow's share of Thomas Beatty's land. Book 14 of the Orphans Court Docket is not on microfilm at the PA State Archives. George Beatty, who is still residing on his father's land in 1881, did not leave a will in Fayette County. I believe he may have died before 1889, when Nancy Beatty of Nicholson Township sells land to Charles T. Swearengen [Sept. 3, 1889, Deed Book 89, page 175, this book is not available at the PA State Archives]. It is possible that other probate files exist in Fayette County that show a settlement of Thomas Beatty's estate as well as the estate of his widow, Mary Beatty. --Laurel Baty, L252 Fayette County Pennsylvania Will Book 5, page 301 Will of Nancy Buffle, dec. I Nancy Buffle of Nicholson township in the County of Fayette and State of Pennsylvania, being of sound mind, memory and understanding, do make and publish this my last will and testament, hereby revoking and making void all former wills by me at any time here before made. First I direct that my body be decently interred in the Cemetery at the Old Frame Church according to rites and ceremonies of the Presbyterian Church and that my funeral be conducted in a manner corresponding with my estate and situation in life. As to such estate as it hath pleased God to entrust me with, I dispose of the same as follows, viz., I give, devise and bequeath to David Gans, in consideration of his many acts of kindness to me, my house and lot where I now reside, described as follows, viz: situate in Nicholson township, Fayette County, Pennsylvania at the junction of Mason town, New Geneva and Smithfield roads, bounded on the East and north by lands of David Gans, on the west by road leading from Masontown to Cerous Williams, on the South by road leading from New Geneva to Smithfield containing one fourth of an acre more or less, with the appurtenances to have and to hold the said messnage or parcel of land described to him, his heirs and assigns forever. I give and bequeath to my beloved Pastor, Rev. H. O. Rosburough one hundred dollars in money to be paid to him by my executors herein named, as soon after my demise as can be consistently with a proper settlement of all my debts. I give and bequeath to Lydia Cagey my sewing machine. I give and bequeath to Louisa Miller my corner cupboard. I give and bequeath to Melinda Gans my clock and bureau. I give and bequeath to Lucy Burwell [my] rocking chair. I give and bequeath to Jane Eberhart my dining table. I give and bequeath to Ann Lucetta Franks my large family Bible. I give and bequeath to Jesse B. Fast all my Windsor chairs. I give and bequeath to the Old Frame branch of the Presbyterian Church of which I am a member all the following items and sums, viz.: Seven hundred dollars of the money remaining in the farm, sold by the Administrator of my husband being on the waters of Jacobs Creek in Nicholson township, Fayette county, Pennsylvania, adjoining lands of Mary Nicholson, Henry Franks, Jacob Deffenbaugh and others, now owned by P. H. Franks and Jacob Fast, it being money received as part of my share of my father's estate, and paid on the purchase of said farm. The balance of four hundred and seventy seven dollars remaining in the above described farm or so much thereof as shall not be required to reimburse John G. Gans Committee of Agnes Buffle for money expended by him for use of his ward, the same being due me for the care and maintenance of my daughter Agnes Buffle. The sum of one hundred dollars due me and remaining in my father's farm now occupied by George Beatty in Nicholson township, Fayette County, Pennsylvania and bounded by lands of Jacob Crow, James Woolsey, James T. Dils and others, with interest on the said one hundred dollars from the date of the death of my mother which occurred in the year 1856. Also the sum of sixty dollars due me and remaining in the other portion of my fathers real estate, being in the farm now owned and occupied by James Woolsey in Nicholson township, Fayette County and State of Pennsylvania and bounded by lands of Jacob Crow, Oliver Eberhart, the farm occupied by George Beaty [sic] & others and whatever other property I may have at the time of my decease whether personal or mixed, including all money on hand or due me from any other source not herein named to be paid to the Trustees of said church by my Executors herein named, as soon after my demise as can be consistently with a proper settlement of all my debts and to have and to hold the same to them the officers of said church forever. I appoint William H. Deffenbaugh and David R. Gans to be my Executors of this my last will and testament. In witness whereof I Nancy Buffle have hereunto set my hand and seal this eighteenth day of February A. D. 1881. Nancy Buffle [Her mark] Witnesses: Samuel Durr and N. B. Johnson [proved by both witnesses May 25, 1881] Registered May 25, 1881

    1. [BP2000] Excerpts from the Toronto Star, possibly L515
    2. Laurel Baty
    3. I recently discovered that the Toronto Star has been completely digitized and is available on-line from the 1890s up to the present. You may search and view the paper for a small fee: http://thestar.pagesofthepast.ca/Default.asp You may search 5 years at a time--but there are always problems searching old newspapers--the search frequently does not recognize the blurred letters of the old papers. I found the following obituaries and news using the search and also viewing papers on specific dates. Many of the obituaries did not appear in the search results . I found searching on variations such as "Beattle" helped--or using other search parameters such as address. But the best results come from knowing the date of death. I believe that Lineage 515 may be from the following family (I have posted a more in depth summary of this family but here I am concentrating on the Toronto portion). My intent was to find an obituary for Thomas Beattie and his mother Emily Beattie that would mention L515 Robert John Beattie. I never found a death notice for Thomas or Emily Beattie-- perhaps if I could find an exact date of death from a cemetery I would be able to locate the obituary. 1901 Toronto, Ontario Canada, Dist 17, page 4 John Beattie, age 41, born Feb 22, 1860 in Scotland, arrived in Canada in 1887, bookbinder, Presbyterian, nationality Irish Emley, wife, born 26 May 1861, 39, born England Thomas, son, born 31 Oct 1882 18, born Scotland, Methodist, bookbinder Robert son born 22 July 1886, 14, born Scotland, Methodist [**L515?] Violet, dau, born 28 April 1892, Ontario Arthur, son, born July 1, 1894. 3. Do any of you Beattys know the relationship between these Beatty / Larimores?? contact directly please.. Nelda ----Original Message Follows---- From: Mike McDonald <mikemcdon@yahoo.com> Date: Tue, 19 Jun 2007 12:16:08 -0600 Source: PABUTLER@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [PABUTLER] Jacob Larimore I'm thinking his wife may have been a Beatty. I've found a couple Beatty's living with them throughout the years. However, when they listed William Beatty living with Jacob and Nancy in 1880 they did not list the relationship. However in 1850 they didn't list the relationship of Nancy Beatty either. One of the Wills/Estate records that I'm trying to get through is for an Elizabeth Larrimore that passed abt 1834. It also lists numerous Beatty's as siblings. I have a second Will/Estate for a John Larrimore that appears may have passed about 1831 that also lists Beatty's in the family. So I'm thinking that this John and Elizabeth may have been married. However, because it's all handwritten (and I've found someone with worse handwritting then myself) it's hard to read through it all. Mike Hope someone can help him....
