The Littles and the Beattys evidently have been linked for centuries. Any listing of the Border Reiver families on the Scotland/England border usually list both the Littles and the Beattys....and both are listed for the Eskdale area of the border. Also, the 1631 Muster Roll of County Fermanagh where 971 individuals are listed, 36 are Beattys and 25 are Littles (all spellings). I guess there was also a diary of Col. Charles Clinton but there must have been a link that I did not try, because I did not find the diary or journal. I know that many BEATTY/BEATY men have the middle name, and even first name of Clinton, but there could be many reasons for parents to use that given name. Thanks for looking into this, Lois

I am not sure I understood that ship's manifest and how they are listed. I still keep looking for a 4th James BEATTY, who might have been the father of our first of three James Beatys, who was born in Ireland in about 1757 and died in Pennsylvania in about 1788 and had sons James, John, Hugh, and Robert. I have one William LITTLE, born about 1808 in England, and I have Thomas LITTLE, husband of Anna Warren, who was the 2nd-born daugther of Richard Warren, Mayflower passenger, and I keep trying to tie my two LITTLE families together. I guess if the researchers at Plymouth or any of the descendants of Richard Warren through Anna found any documentation of the parents of Thomas LITTLE, we would have heard about it by now. Thanks for posting this, Lois. . There is a Beatty/ Little connection in lineage 7, also. Henry Clay Beatty married Mary Sophia Elizabeth Little and Irvin Beatty married Martha A. Little. This link was sent to me because of all of the LITTLE surnames mentioned but there are a lot of BEATTY names, as well. The passenger list is extensive but the one that intrigues me is the listing of "Son of James BEATTY," expecially when there is no James BEATTY list at the beginning of the paragraph, PASSENGERS ON GEORGE & ANNE. Since this whole story involves Col Charles Clinton, I am wondering if this Colonel was the person that several family members in our L-39 lineage got the idea for the given name "Clinton." http://genforum.genealogy.com/little/messages/4421.html Lois Kortering, L-39

17 March 1808: Samuel McJunkin of Union County SC conveys to Robert Beatty of Union County SC, for $2000, a 150-acre tract of land originally granted to Samuel McJunkin on 13 February 1768; However, a sixteen foot square of land is reserved "whereupon some of my family & some of the family of Joseph McJunkin is interred" Also, a part of two other tracts of land granted to Samuel McJunkin: one of 400 acres in 1785 and one acquired on 4 December 1786 adjacent Daniel Comer. Witnesses were Samuel Otterson, John Cunningham and John Moore. Note that Joseph McJunkin was a son of Samuel McJunkin and Robert Beatty was a son-in-law of Samuel. The sale occurred just before Samuel McJunkin set out to emigrate to Indiana to join one of his other sons, John McJunkin. Unfortunately, Samuel died while on the trail - on 25 April 1808. The line from Rufus7 would be as follows: Rufus7, Robert E.6, Elijah5, ?Robert4, ?Isaac3, William2, Joseph1. Would you add the eighth and succeeding generations? The question mark before Robert4 indicates that John BEATTY and Di Ann VICK were not able to prove that Elijah5 was the son of Robert4. The question mark before Isaac3 shows they couldn't prove Robert4 was the son of Isaac3. Fortunately, we are making good progress on two of Isaac3's lines in the VICK Y-DNA Surname Project. We are finding mutations that support the conclusions of John BEATTY and Di Ann VICK that Jacob4 and Aaron4 were children of Isaac3. If someone from your line tests, we may be able to support the conclusions about Robert4. We also have a new member who is awaiting results who is a descendant of William2's son Simon3. That will also help. If you haven't given Di Ann VICK a family group sheet for your VICK lines, I hope you will. She could use them for the next volume of the book and for a newsletter article. Thanks for sharing so much information. I am not exactly sure on this very line but, almost. I know Elijah Vick is my GRTGRTGRTGrandfather and Robert E. Vick his son is my GRTGRT. Robert's son Rufus is my GrtGrandfather. In Bledsoe County Archives Tenn.. There is a lot of information on this from Robert D. Vick my Grandma Martha Irene Vicks nephew. He was son of John Arnold my Grandma Irenes brother. I tried to reach Robert over every way I could before Mom passed and couldn't contact him. On the genforum he was looking for my Grandmother who would have been his Aunt. I am the last of Grandma Vick Schallers grandchildren left and last of the family basically. My Mom, Grandma and sister passed. Grandma was born and raised in Nashville to Rufus and Susan Willis Vick. I was left many Vick pictures and other things. I heard all the storys. Grandma was the last of the children left as she was born in 1903. The reason I responded was the Vick Vapor rub posting. I thought of her and always wondered if we were related to them. I had traced Elijahs Dad back to Robert then Isaac then William. Elijah was married to Lucy Gay. I know this is my line up to him and then Robert. Was the only Robert who had an Elijah I could find. This Robert was married to an unknown Mary. Then came his Dad Isaac. I then followed it to William and Joseph. I didn't realie there were anymore Isaacs or Williams. I just know up to the point of Robert that Elijah who came to Tenn around 1815 was and is my GRTGRTGRTGrandfather. Robert IS MY GRTGRTGrandfather. If I am on the wrong line I am willing to listen. This is why I don't post if I'm not sure. I did that in the beginning of my search years ago and found some mistakes I made in the beginning. I know I have living relatives in Tennessee somewhere but, not sure who or names. I have Grandma's handwritten tree and her siblings, who they married dates and their children etc..I see from the census records in 1850 1860 1870 all of GrtGrandpa Rufus family. Brothers sisters etc. Grandma had saved cards and pictures etc.. Since she was the last one she ended up with most of them. She also saved everything. I lived by her and around her all my growing years and so did my sister. In fact I was left her house and lived there for quite sometime. She was born and raised in Nashville but, moved with my Grandpa and three daughters to Michigan in the late 1930's early fortys. Mom spent four years here before graduating and was raised before that in the South. Grandma married a Henry Schaller in Knoxville. He was a traveling salesman. His sister lived here so he moved here. Didn't mean to write the life story but, I would appreciate anything I can get in the way of relatives from the Vick family. Corrections or confirmations. Nelda, Thanks for posting this information. It adds a little flesh to a mystery NC lineage I've had on my radar screen for 5 years or so. All I had was a James Beaty will in Iredell Co., NC dated in 1790. He named a wife, Elizabeth, and among others, a granddaughter named Jean Chambers. There is a Rowan Co., NC marriage record of Robert Chambers - Janes Batey, 15 Jan 1768. So, I presume that Robert Chambers married into this family in 1768 and James' daughter Jean/Jane was dead by 1790. In 2002, I requested a lineage number for this James/Elizabeth Beaty family. Mike pointed out that they were part of L-20A (which they were). We have since overhauled L-20, and I don't believe James/Elizabeth are part of L-20. But, I don't know where they belong. I guess I should resubmit my request for a new lineage number so that we can get this family out into the sunlight. I need to put some thought into this, particularly in the light of the info Marsha provided. Thanks again. Les L-20

Patrick was born in Ireland and his wife's name was Bridget Lynch. Four children were known, but one may have arrived in 1858 from Ireland: Thomas, Hugh, Charles, Richard, and Mary.
