I have more trivia to add to this discussion. When I was a wee lad, I heard stories about young couples wishing to avoid Kentucky laws regarding parental consent - and possibly the three-day wait on blood tests - who crossed the river to Shawneetown, IL to get married. I think maybe there was a blacksmith in Shawneetown who was originally from Gretna Green. This paragraph is total blarney. Anyway, my great-grandparents were married south of the border in Sumner County, TN. I have never been able to find the slightest hint as to why they traveled that far to be married. It was not that easy to get from Grayson County, KY to Sumner County, TN in 1850. There appeared to be no other connection whatsoever with Sumner Co. I have always suspected it had something to do with marriage laws. Hi Nel, L133 has been tested--this lineage is not a part of the Charlton group (Robert Batey was the person tested and he closely matches Armond and Peter). Since Nashville was a large city it is possible that someone from more remote counties in TN may have filed their will there. Wasn't there a David Beaty of L2 who was a State Representative? Hi Willie, I posted that entry several years ago--I believe I ordered the microfilm but can't find any notation of the record in my files. I donated a lot of microfilm to The White County Archives and I am sure that roll of film was one of them. My guess is that the film did not show anything different from the abstracted record--if it had I am sure I would have transcribed it. There must be more probate records on microfilm for Davidson County that would have additional information. It might also be worth looking at Davidson County deeds in the same time period. You might be able to get the film through interlibrary loan at your local library--TN State Archives does loan out some film. http://www.tennessee.gov/tsla/ Here is the link to their interlibrary loan page: http://www.tennessee.gov/tsla/history/county/ill-list.htm Laurel -----Original Message----- From: bp2000-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:bp2000-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Willie R. Laurel, Okay, thanks. I'm still hoping to get down to Rutherford, Cannon, & Dekalb Counties, and maybe can do some checking in Rutherford to see if they have that. White is also in the general vicinity of Dekalb, so maybe can check White Archives for the micorfilm.
