    3. Thank you. Another thought...do we have a roster of his division? He may have served with other family members. Wonder if the Bachman was misspelled or misunderstood from a transcript. She was Beatty on the census with her daughter Rachel "DeHart". 2. Laurel Baty
    3. If anyone would like copies of the War of 1812 pension files I posted yesterday I will be happy to copy them for you, since I plan to go back to the Archives this week. I probably won't copy more than 12 in one day--right now I have been asked to copy Thomas H. Baty and William Beatty (Fentress Co). Because of the fragile condition of these documents I do not want to copy them unless someone expresses an interest in the file. I also plan to check the index for alternate spellings of Beaty and will post any additional cards that I find. There is a two volume printed index to this series of microfilm which is available at the Archives. Laurel Baty, L252

    3. War of 1812 Pension Card Abstracts [National Archives, M313, Index to War of 1812 Pension Application Files, 102 rolls.] These cards are on microfilm, I have abstracted the soldiers name, date of enlistment, unit, widows name, date of marriage if given and residence information of soldier and widow. There are also a series of numbers on the cards—“numbers” and Bounty Land that I can provide to anyone who is interested in a particular person. The actual pension files have not been microfilmed and must be requested from the National Archives—if you are visiting the Archives you can obtain a researcher card and request a maximum of 4 files per document pull (these are at set times throughout the day) or 24 files per day! You then view the files in a special room (second floor) into which you may bring only a pencil and paper. You may Xerox the files with approval of an Archivist—a large document scanner/copier is also available. This list is not complete—I think there were a couple from New York that I did not copy (Batie?). There may be more alternate spellings—I will check again. The research area of the national Archives was just renovated and everything has been moved to the ground floor—it is a very nice setup! Baty, Thomas H., Pvt. Capt. William Ford’s Co., Ga. There was one one for William Beaty, who enlisted Oct. 4, 1813, in Capt. John Kennedy's Co., Tenn. Mil. He married Martha Westmoreland on April 28, 1814 in Overton Co., TN. In 1850, 1855 he was living in Fentress Co. TN. In 1871 he lived in Casey Co., (PO Liberty) Ky. He died Aug 5, 1877, Casey Co. KY. The card states "Original Family Record in brief" Has anyone seen this pension application? It sounds like there might be an original Bible page in it. I will go copy this if anyone is interested--the copies have to be made during the week because it involves pulling the original records....Is this William Lineage 2 and how does he fit in? I also found a card for Thomas H. Baty (L20) --I will also copy his application if anyone is interested--card states "soldier's original discharge card in brief". Laurel Baty, L252

    3. I left out a Beaty application yesterday--one that was hard to see on the digital index. An observant Beaty relative pointed this out! Joseph Young Beaty, application # 45339, rejected, filed in Chilhowee Missouri, Young Beaty was 37 at the time of application, born in 1871, in Henry Co MO. his father's name was Benjamin Beaty and mother Louisa Kinney Beaty, both born in Henry Co MO. Father died August 12, 1908, mother died Sept 4, 1898. Siblings: Sam Beaty, Galena KS, Mary S. Chilhowee MO, Jackson Chilhowee MO, Abner, died Aug 1908, Finis A., Wilburton OK, and Louisa M., died 1882. Grandparents Joseph Beaty and Mary Prigmore born in KY, children: Lewis, Clark Benjamin and Mary. Also information about maternal grandparents. A letter from Young Beaty sating that his great grandfather registered in the year 1838 and that his father had looked up the records a "good many years ago." Also several affidavits from people knowing the maternal great grandfather, John Walker. Another letter from Young Beaty in which he fires his attorney! I also did not realize that for some applications there is even more information in the miscellaneous testimony section. This is true for Jesse Beaty and Welburn Batie. Welburn Batie's deposition: No 23498 Welburn Batie, after being first duly sworn deposes and says: I am 26 years of age. I am a Cherokee alottee and my number is 29942. My father is living about four miles west of here. He is an Old Settler. He drew Old Settler money. My father was too young to be in the war. I also claim Indian blood through my mother. She was not living at the time of the Immigrant payment. Bob Parris was my mother's father. I never saw him. He was an Indian. He died at the close of the war. He was an Old Settler. Martha Parris was my mother's mother. She is an Old Settler. Her maiden name was Martha Wood. My grandmother Martha Parris enrolled with the Old settler Group 258, page 80. Robert Parris, Jr., grandfather of applicant was enrolled with the Old Settlers Group 46, page 27. Wm. Batie was my grandfather on my father's side. He was an Old Settler. He was killed in the time of the war. he is enrolled with the Old settlers group 29 (89?), page 70. He had two sisters one named Emmeline and one named Samantha. Annie Batie was my grandmother. She was an Old Settler, group 140, page 57. I did not get any Old Settler money about 14 years ago. Welburn Batie Subscribed and sworn to before me at Tahlequah, Okla., this thirtieth day of September, 1908. {Page 3329 of Miscellaneous Testimony} Laurel Baty, L252
