    3. Another link I found that had a Beaty / Beatty photograph. This one is of a home in Charlotte-Mecklenburg, that is known as the W.D. Beatty house. If the link below doesn't work, just go into a search engine and type "Beaty Photographs". Many, many sites come up. Again, if this is a repeat of information that has already been posted, please forgive me for the reposting. 3. Laurel, One more question. . . .(actually two questions) Does the payment for CDs and printed copies go toward the $300 scanning cost? Or, is the $300 cost separate from the cost of the CD or printed copies? The reason I ask is because if they are separate, we could all order CDs and printed copies and you would still be stuck with the $300 expense for the scanning. Les Beaty, L20B/L241

    3. Lois, I did a quick Google search and turned up a Jeff Beatty who is President and CEO, Total Security Services International, Inc.. There is a conference website at http://www.transformationconference.com/jeffbeatty.htm which has his picture (I think). Is that who you saw? From his company's website, his email address is jbeatty@TotalSecurity.US. Guess you could send him an email and ask him from whence he came. Les Beaty L-20B/L-241

    1. [BP2000] A Beatty man on TV
    2. Lois
    3. Good Morning from the Cold, Snowy, Blowy State of Michigan! At about 6:15 this morning, the minute I turned on TV, there on The Fox News Channel, was a close-up of a "Jeff Beatty, an Anti-Terror Specialist." He was talking about Homeland Security, but I never heard a word he said, because I was too busy studying him! He really resembles some of the Beatty men in our family! With his long narrow face, his eyes, his long slender nose, the way he talked sort of out of the corner of his thin lips, and the way he cocked his head, he looked exactly like one of my mother's first cousins. Does anyone know from which Beatty Line this Jeff Beatty descends? My mother used to say that Ned Beatty, the actor, looks just like all of the round-faced men in our Beatty family. We do have "Edwards," and I believe all of them had the middle name of Benjamin, or just the initial "B," which was probably Benjamin. I know that the nickname of at least two of the Edwards was "Ned." I know, we women tend to describe people by using well-known actors or public figures. When my sister and I want to tell someone what someone looks like, we might say something like, "He kind of looks like Cary Grant but acts like Gary Cooper." Or, we might say, "She is a cross between Michelle Pfeiffer and Malanie Griffith." Just last night on the phone, my sister was trying to describe a man to me, and she said, "Well, he looks like a young Steve Allen, only with less hair!" Maybe it is just the artist in us! We look at eyes, ears, noses, mouths, hands, and how they part their hair. If anyone knows the Beatty Line of this man,--and you don't think it is wise to respond on the Mailing List, you can e-mail me privately. Lois (Griffes) Kortering L-39

    2. Lois
    3. Thanks, Julie, and that is understandable, since I think that my James Lewis Beatty/Beaty was born there but sort of as passing-through point to St. Joseph Co., Indiana, where James died. It is possible that his parents lived and died in Stark County, and if I am to believe our family history that was passed down to me, then, I would be looking for a James L. Beatty/Beaty, wife unknown, who had seven sons and 1,2,3, daughters and lived and died in Stark County in the mid-1800s. Oh, "Were there not so darn many James Beatty men!" It is as bad as having a George Washington Jones, but I absolutely DID find him, the father of my paternal grandmother, and I was thrilled that he was a descendant of the Mayflower passenger, Stephen Hopkins. We all know that those families that survived the voyage across to America were all just "Normal families," but what was unique about them was that they were "Survivors!" 3. Laurel, you make me smile when you say, "I am new at this!" You have been a human dynamo...NON STOP...at contributing very important genealogy to one of the first and largest family websites, the Beatty Project 2000, of anyone I have known on the Internet! I am amazed at how fast you have delivered tons of information about all of our Beaty/Beatty/Beattie/Batey family lines, and you are a very close second to Donna Van Zandt, as far as shooting out the information! I think Donna would agree that you have given her a much-needed break! You have both been great admirers of mine, and I have learned a lot from both of you! I am going to order the CD, and my offer still stands to send a check, if more funds are needed to get this project rolling. 2. Laurel, I just ordered my CD but just put the $10.00. If I had your email prior I would have added $20.00 to the total. Slow thinking on my part. If there are not enough orders to make the $300.00 I will send in a contribution and/or order two more CD's and donate to my two co-workers on L-405 and L-324. In fact I will just go back to the site and order two more right now. :>) RaNelle

    3. I thought I should try and clarify a few things--forgive me for the confusion, I am new at this! 1) All Rev War Pension Application CDs ordered by a contributor will contain all of the files (38, I think) that are contained on the microfilm roll. The cost is $10.00 per CD of 38 applications. 2) The image quality on the CDs will be better than the image quality on the Web Page because some image quality is sacrificed to minimize the time it takes to load the image from the internet to your computer (I am sure computer experts can explain this better than me and I welcome any help they might give). Also it will be easier to print from the CD, should you desire to do so, than it will be to print from the images on the internet. 3) However, if you do not want to have either a CD or a printed copy of the applications but still desire to contribute towards the $300.00 cost of scanning the microfilm, just mention this in your application that you send by the internet or mail to SK Publications. I do think $30.00 is too high of a contribution. If you pay by credit card we can simply divide the cost by the number of applicants but if you pay by check we risk overpaying, which I am sure that no one wants to do. 4) A copy of the CD prepared in a format suitable for uploading to the internet will be sent to someone (Mike Allen?) when the project is complete. 5) SK Publications is planning on ordering the microfilm tomorrow and estimates it will take 3 weeks to complete the scanning process.
