I copied two more "Final Pension Payments" of Rev War Pensioners found at the National Archives: Samuel Beaty of Cecil Co MD [ In 1832 he states that he has resided in Cecil Co for "Upwards" of 40 years and previous thereto in PA] Henry Beatty, Winchester, Frederick Co, VA [In 1839 he states that he has resided in Winchester for fifty years and previous thereto he resided in Frederick Co. MD] --witnesses are Lemuel Bent and David T. Castleman. If anyone would like copies let me know. Laurel Baty, L252
I copied all of the Beaty (all spellings) files indexed in the following book at the Archives today: "The Lost Pensions, Settled Accounts of The Act of 6 April 1838" by Craig R. Scott, Willow Bend Books, 1996 These files are basically final Pension Payments for Rev War Pensioners or their widows which are found in a different Record Group than the other Final Pension payments at the Archives. The Beatys in the book: Beatey, David, NC [ Iredell Co, death not shown, power of attorney] Beatty, Arthur, w/o, Albany NY [Died Dec. 10, 1836, left a widow named Elizabeth--witnesses are Lemeul Jenkins and Harriet Deming] Beatty, John w/o KY [John died June 9, 1839 in Montgomery Co, KY, witnesses on documents are George Beatty and Daniel McCullough, left widow Sallie, attorney was Independence Gist] Beatty, John w/o, Philadelphia [Mifflin Co PA, died June 27, 1840, left a widow named Nancy of Armagh Township. John had reside in Mifflin Co for 20 years and previous thereto in Lancaster] Beatty, William, c/o New York [Died May 1, 1834; left no widow, daughter Maria of Orange County, NY, only child surviving him, of legal age, signs name Maria Beatty] Beaty, David, NC [Iredell co, death not shown, power of attorney] Beaty, David, NC [Iredell Co, death not shown, power of attorney] All of the Davids are the same man David Beaty from Iredell, NC (who also has a Final Pension Payment on file, which I have copied). Anyone who would like a scan of these documents let me know. Laurel Baty, L252
>From National Archives microfiche publication #M1279 Navy Dependents Pension files, approved Beatty, Samuel fiche #6873, cert# 7665 Margaret A. Beatty states that she is the widow of Samuel Beatty who died in June of 1877. She gives her maiden name as Margaret Cussack and states she was married 22 May 1857 in Boston. A death record for Samuel gives his place of birth as England. There is a record of birth for a child Robert born July 17, 1866 and a child Anna Francis Beddie born Jan. 18, 1861 which also shows her father born in England and her mother born in Ireland. Margaret files an affadavit from Rhode Island but gives an address in Boston. Laurel Baty, L252
I copied a few pages from this file--a death certificate lists Joseph's father as Hugh W. Beatty. >From microfiche publication # M1279 Navy Dependents approved Pension Files 1861 -1910 Beatty, Joseph W. K. fiche # 14949 cert # 16161 (2 fiche) In 1892 Joseph Beatty lived in Altoona, PA and stated that he enlisted Aug 8, 1862 in CO A 125 PA VOLS, and was a private in the Marine Corps; he was discharged at Harrisburg PA. He was born in Huntington PA and was 29 at the time of his enlistment. His full name was Joseph Walter Kile Beatty. Joseph's widow Catherine applies for accrued pension Feb 1903 and she is living in Blair Co., PA. She states that he left surviving him 6 children and did not leave a will. John W. Beatty, son of Catherine, states that his mother lives with 3 children. There is a death certificate in this file that shows Joseph's birthplace as Birmingham, PA and states that his father's name was Hugh W. Beatty, born in PA and his mother's name was Lillie K. It gives Joseph's date of birth as Sept. 21, 1834. Another document lists the children of Joseph as : John W. born 7-4-1867 Bertha K. born Nov. 1869 W. Henry born April 1873 Agnes born Nov 1876 James born June 1880 Kate born Sept. 1884 A marriage record shows the marriage of Walter K. Beatty of Tipton, Blair Co. PA to Catherine Boyles of Antes Township, Blair, PA. The marriage date is July 2, 1857. Laurel Baty, L252

Hi, Here is a list of the names which have already been searched.. Beatty, Beaty, Baty, Batey, Batte, Battey, Bety, Batie, BaityBattes, Beatie, Beattie, Beattey, Beatey They are all in the Archives for our list. I have had requests for Baily, Battie and Betty.. on the Betty there are over 450.. so I will have to really view them selectivly, as most of these are files with just the first name Betty. I will do these names in a few days giving the list time to do other things besides DAR postings from me.. But if you can find other spellings you would like me to search Please let me know right away as I'd like to have them by Wednesday so I can start on Thursday or friday with the new names.. Is this ok with everyone? After that if you have a particular name not assicoated withBeatty I'd be glad to look.. DO remember ancestry.com only has 152 volumes on line at present.. JUst because your ancestors doesn't show in these volumes does not mean that they were not a REV WAR VET.. It just means that a person has not used them as a source for membership to the DAR and that the books so far on line idoes not have them listed... The other volumes yet to be put on line still may have.. Example is my own John Gillock who my great Aunt is a member of the DAR on.. not listed in these Volumes .. yet I have a copy of her membership.. So everything is not there yet... Nelda Nelda L. Hi, on this one it says see also 112508-Would that have more Anderson/Beatty info? Does that mean it is the same family? I have been trying to track this Elizabeth Beatty for years. He married Elizabeth Beatty. ubject: Re: House/Beatty/Anderson Date: Tue, 28 Nov 2000 11:41:24 -0800 (PST) From: h3034@webtv.net (Harriette Philips) To: donavan@netins.net In 1806 James Anderson and his father Thomas Anderson sold Anderson's Bottom, the family plantation on the south bank of the North Branch Potomac River about five miles south of Cumberland, Maryland to Daniel Collins. The property was in Hampshire County at the time. They moved to Lancaster, Ohio where Thomas died soon after they arrived. James' son James M. was born there. As I said before I do not know where he married Elizabeth Beatty but it could have been in either state. I would expect Hampshire County in Virginia, then either Franklin or Fairfield County, Ohio. I also know that James and Priscilla did not remain in Ohio. In his latter years they moved to Clinton County, Indiana near his eldest son Levi and died October 24, 1844. Hs wife Priscilla House Anderson died Ausust 17, 1847 possibly in Marion. I have a letter from James to his son Thomas J. telling Thomas he had sugested to Priscilla she go to Marion with her son Thomas their second oldest offspring. Sorry I'm not more help about James M. but my information came down from my g grandfather James House Anderson, Thomas Jefferson Anderson's son. He knew his grand mother, and his uncles John and Hiram. James H. A. was the only son of his father's to leave children. If you can find Hiram, a methodist minister perhaps you may learn more about his siblings. Hiram was the next to last of James and Priscilla's children. I know Mahela James oldest daughter married and left a legacy but I don't have her married name and lost the contact I had with her contemporary descendants. B., attorney at law in Washington C. H., has been actively engaged in the practice of his profession since the fal of 1884, and has his office in a pleasant suite of rooms in the Yeoman Block. We invite the reader’s attention to his portrait and the following sketch of his life. He is a native of Fayette County and was born February 7, 1860 on the farm which is still the home of his parents. His education was commenced in the district and public schools of Washington C. H., and completed in the Ohio Wesleyan university at Delaware. The legal profession proved so fascinating to the peculiar ability and mental acquirements of Mr. Zimmerman that he resolved to commence its study. Accordingly, he entered the law school at Cincinatti and was graduated in 1884, forming a partnership with J. B. Priddy. A branch office was opened at Mt. Sterling, Ohio, of which our subject afterward assumed entire charge. On the removal of mr. Priddy to the West in the spring of 1886, the connection was dissolved, since which time Mr. Zimmerman has conducted his practice alone. Although the law is his chosen profession and he considers faithful attention to his practice his first duty, Mr. Zimmerman, nevertheless, finds time for other interests, both of a public and private nature. He superintends the management of the farm which he owns in Fayette County and derives a good income from its rental. He is secretary of the Cincinatti Southern Loan Company and holds other positions of trust and honor. His library is one of the finest in the county and contains a large number of rare and valuable books of a general, as well as legal character, and he has also the finest collection of art works in the county. A biography of Mr. Zimmerman would be of little value to him did it not contain extended mention of his father, who has been one of the most enterprising citizens of Fayette County since he settled here in his early manhood. Obediah Zimmerman was born on Twin Creek, in Ross County, Ohio, October 14, 1811, and was the son of Andrew and Ruth (Taylor) Zimmerman, a native of Maryland. He received his education in the subscription schools of that early day and remained with his father, aiding in the work of developing the farm, until his marriage to Miss Nancy Simmons. He then purchased a tract of land in the southern part of Fayette County, near New Martinsburgh, and remained there until 1857, when he moved to union Township, this county, his present home, and began the task of clearing and cultivating the soil. After the death of his first wife, Obediah Zimmerman was married, May 14, 1850, to Elizabeth Jane, daughter of Isaac House. Her grandmother was an aunt of President James K. Polk. Six children were born of that union: Margaret Caroline, born March 18, 1851, became the wife of Albert P. Kilgore, of Fayette County, November 18, 1875; John Jefferson, who was born February 23, 1853, married Emma Fisher, February 21, 1882, and resides in Fayette County; isaac Newton, whose birth occurred June 10, 1855, is a farmer in this county; Amanda Ann, born April 2, 1857, became the wife of Ashley Wood, March 11, 1875; our subject was the next in order of birth; clara E. born May 22, 1862, was married February 21, 1882, to the Rev. joseph Griffeth, a minister of the Methodist Episcopal Church. The father lived on the old farm until after the birth of three children, when he located at his present home, and here he and his faithful wife have lived and labored for thirty-five years. They are sincere members of the Methodist Episcopal Church. Mrs. Elizabeth Zimmerman was born november 24, 1825, and was reared to womanhood in the pioneer home which her father established in Fayette County in March, 1807. She is a devoted wife and mother, and ever upper-most in her thoughts are the interests of her husband and children. The maternal grandfather of our subject, Isaac House, was born november 3, 1847 (?), and died January 21, 1850. He removed from Shenandoah County, Va. to Ohio in 1807, and took up a tract of land, now a part of the Zimmerman homestead, when it was an entire wilderness, with the nearest neighbor three miles distant. His marriage united him with Mary Ann Winegardner, and took place in Fairfield County in March 1823. Mrs. House was born in pendleton County, Va., february 2, 1790, and died September 29, 1831. Four children were born of their union, namely; Elizabeth Jane, of whom mention has already been made; Charity Ann, born March 1, 1827, is the wife of C. C. Plyly; Caroline, born September 14, 1828, is the wife of James G. Beatty, of Seldon; John, born April 25, 1831, died January 1, 1866. The last-named at his death left a widow and four children, as follows; L. F. House, M.D., of Adams County; Clara E. Seaburn, who resides in Fayette county; Allie E., Mrs. Langdon, and Ulysses S. who reads law in the office of our subject and passed his examination for admission to the Bar at Columbus, in October, 1891. There was an agreement in the Winegardner family that those who married were to have no share in the family estate, while those who remained single were to have the whole of the fortune. The last unmarried member of the family died recently, leaving an estate valued at more than $500,000, which reverted to the heirs of the family. They are known as one of the wealthiest and widely-known families of Fairfield County, and for generations have been identified with its growth. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
