Need to head to work. See if you can find Albert, John H., and Wm Henry in 1860. Albert should be in Logan Co and Wm. Henry should be in Ohio somewhere. He dies later from hard service in the war, and John could be headed to Kansas. Albert would only be 12 and should be living according to the County History. Wm. H. is in the 1870 census I sent you. and by 1870 Albert would be in Cleveland I bet. I don't have any Ohio on my 1860 census index, but there was a John H. Beatty in Hillsboro, Montgomerty Co., Illinois Page 6. This is a screwy mess!!! If he had two wives then why wasn't Albert who was only 12 in 1860 with either his mother or father???? The rest of the boys could have been on their own, but Albert would not have been old enough to do that. We need to get an original copy of the county history. 2. I went to try and complete the A. - James Beatty Bounty Land Claims and was told the box was lost. I am going to try and talk to an Archivist and see if a search can be made --I think this box must also have Beattie and Beatie spellings. I am curious if anyone has ever sent for and received a Bounty Land Claim for a Beatty relative who would fall in this group. I was able to index Batty, Baty and Batey and will be sending those out along with a new batch of Parental Civil War Pensions over the next few days. Laurel Baty, L252

    1. [BP2000] Beaty family in Belmont Co, Ohio
    2. Cindy Johnstone
    3. Is anyone researching or know anything about John Beatty living in Belmont Co, Ohio in 1840? He was age 20-30 living with a wife age 20-30. By 1850 John Beatty was dead and his second wife Elizabeth Garrett Beatty was living with her family with her stepdaughter Letta A Beatty. In 1860 Elizabeth was still in Belmont Co living with sister Matilda and stepdaughter Litty A Beatty. In 1880 Elizabeth was living in Magnolia, Putnam Co, Illinois with her sister Matilda and stepdaughter Letty Ann. Letty Ann Beatty listed her mother's birth place as Maryland (as was her stepmother's), and her father's as Pennsylvania. She was 36 and unmarried. My Samuel Beaty of lineage 7/34 was in the same township as John Beatty in 1840. My Samuel named his youngest daughter Latitia. I believe these two Beattys to be either brothers or cousins. John Beatty would be of an age to be Samuel's brother. I find it coincidental that their daughters would be named similarly. It doesn't bother me that Letty Ann said her father was born in Penn instead of Virginia. I've found in my research that 50% of the time, children name the wrong state their parents were born in. Anyway, does anyone know of this John Beatty in Belmont County, Ohio? Thanks Cindy L7/34 --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? Get better spam protection with Yahoo! Mail

That the said William, married Cassa Ann Beatty, and the said James, married Elizabeth Allison Beatty, both of whom were the daughters of him, the said William Beatty.
