    3. For all of you who have been laying awake at night wondering where the "lost" box of Beatty Bounty Land Warrants is-- don't despair, it was "found" today at the Archives. Box 360 contains Beatie, Beattie, and A - John (there are more Johns) Beatty. I am preparing an index but will have to go back again to abstract all of the files. There are quite a number of files-- almost the whole box. Laurel Baty, L252

    3. Noticed this while working on a file. This is a good reason why it is a good idea to do the research after you have found your ancestor in DAR. Note James' widow Catherine when applying for her pension for his Revolutionary service sent in a Bible leaf with her children and birth dates. Their son James was born in 1803 and could not have a son Caleb born in 1800 (L-232). >From the pension file of James Beaty: Correct copy of the names and date of the birth of the children of James and Catharine Beatty filed with the application of Catharine Beatty for a pension - See case File No.5802- Revolutionary roll. Eli Beatty born July 31, 1793; Jeane Beatty born April 25, 1797; Reachel Beatty born Dec'r 3, 1800; William Beatty born Sept. 24, 1801; James Beatty born Decem. 17, 1803 (written next to William and James Beatty's names is: There eraseres on the leaf) The above family record was made on a large Bible leaf and affidavits identified the record as in the hand writing of James Beatty the soldier & husband of Catharine the applicant. The widow having died the pension certificate was payable under act of Feby 2, 1848 to her surviving children Jane, William, & Jane (note: must be James) The above mentioned Bible leaf was returned Feby 28, 1887 to W.J. Steen of Pittsburg Pa at his request in behalf Mrs. Steen who was a grand daughter of James Beatty, through Hon. James Nagley & desk of Depy Comes. J.J. Bartlett. I certify the above as a true copy & correct. (signed) N. Robinson, assist chief of division of old war, Navy & bounty land. DAR Record: Mrs. Elizabeth Beatty Longfellow. DAR ID Number: 41728 Born in Chester, Pennsylvania. Wife of James G. Longfellow. Descendant of Corp. James Beatty, of Pennsylvania. Daughter of John E. Beatty and Jane Wood, his wife. Granddaughter of Caleb Beatty born 1800 and Phebe Pyle, his wife. Gr.-granddaughter of James Beatty, Jr., and Margaret Pennell, his wife. Gr.-gr.-granddaughter of James Beatty and Catherine â?", (1768-1849), his wife, m. 1792. James Beatty, (1753-1827), enlisted in Bedford County for three years as corporal in the 11th Penna. regiment. 2. Laurel Baty
    3. If any of these look interesting let me know and I will try and copy them at the National Archives. A guardian was appointed if a deceased soldier had surviving children under the age of 16--these tend to have a lot more genealogical information than a pension filed by an invalid soldier. I copied one of these and posted a summary awhile back (Nicholas Beaty of Tennessee)--there was testimony from parents and siblings as well as the widow. L. 3. Hi Janet & BP2000, this is one of those e-mails that is difficult to write but here goes. I am nearly positive I have made a huge error in your lineage and I will have to start all over again. At this point I cannot be certain but I am 90% positive the info I gave you was incorrect. I am starting your file from scratch and I ask that any of the postings I have made to BP2000 on James Beatty (either one I think) be disregarded until I can figure this out. Evidently we have 2 James Beaty dying cir 1827-1828??? and both end up in Allegheny county??? PA one with a wife Catharine and one with a wife Mary and both have sons William and James and a dau. Jane but one of the Janes marries Thomas Ireland and the other marries James Torrence. I have separated the info for both and will put them in separate files and start over tomorrow. Here is the info. (part) and the first part is James and wife Mary and the second is James and wife Katharine. I am so sorry for any problem this has caused anyone. Unfortunately, I don't know much about James other than he had a daughter, Rachel, 1800-1872, and at some point they made their way to Western Pennsylvania where Rachel married John Aber of Plum Township, Allegheny County. James Beatty, John & Rachel Aber and other members of the Aber family are buried at the Beulah Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Churchill, Allegheny County, PA - a suburb of Pittsburgh. 2. Laurel Baty
    3. In the recent index I posted for Bounty Land Warrants I mentioned that I did not copy all of these files. I only copied the files for Tennessee, Kentucky, Georgia, North Carolina, Texas, South Carolina and Mississippi--these are states that are of interest to me in my research. I will be happy to share copies from the files I did copy (although I sent out 2 complete sets of Fentress County, TN Warrants to L2 (Nel and Willie) and ask that you share these among your lineage). If you want a copy of a Bounty land Application file you can order it directly from the National Archives (http://www.NARA.gov). The cost for a Bounty Land application is $17.25--the National Archives uses this money to help preserve documents and, quite frankly, they need every penny of it! You will need NATF form 85, which can be ordered at: http://www.archives.gov/research_room/obtain_copies/military_and_genealogy_order_forms.html Laurel Baty, L252
