I didn't see this message come through on the list, so I'm posting it again. Sorry if it's redundant. -- Katherine >Hi folks, > >I am searching for the ancestry of Sarah "Sally" Boynton, born 2 July >1770, died 15 June 1815; married 20 January 1794, Richard Gage, born 23 >December 1772 in Milford, Worcester Co., Massachusetts, died 15 June 1850, >possibly in Canada. Do you know where she was born? (Otherwise, where was the date discovered?) I looked through the Boynton genealogy, and only found two girls who were born close to that date: Sally, b. 13 Jun 1772 (Stephen5, Stepher4, Benoni3, Joseph2, John1) Sarah, bapt. 12 Jul 1779 (Amos5, Ephraim4, Joseph3, Joseph2, John1) While Amos lived in or near Worcester Co., he had moved to NH and possibly to GA before this Sarah was born, so she's not a likely candidate to be yours. The families who moved to Canada are not as well covered in the genealogy as their American cousins, unfortunately. However, the fact that your Sarah "Sally" married a man from the western part of Massachusetts reinforces my theory that several related families of Boyntons may have migrated out there between 1750 and 1776 (since she doesn't seem to belong to any of Ephraim's descendants). This was a time of lots of migration, with the coastal areas filling up. Maybe we can help narrow the field by discovering who some of the other westering Boyntons were.
