Here's some info on the possible candidates, from the Boynton genealogy by John F. & Caroline Boynton (1897). The numbers in square brackets are the order of generations from the immigrant. David T.[8] (p. 296). (James[7], Asa[6], Oliver[5], John[4], Jonathan[3], Joseph[2], John[1]) b. 6 Apr 1828, married Mary M., dau of Thomas and Nancy (Sherman) Harbuch of Worcester, MA June 21, 1954. He moved to Ohio in 1865, where he purchased a farm and half interest in a large flouring mill, which business he carried on until the fall of 1870. In the winter of 1873 he sold his farm at Willoughby, and purchased a larger one at Mentor, near the home of President Garfield. In 1876 he traded his farm in Ohio for another near Lexington, KY where he has since resided [in 1897]. Their children: Henry H. b. 8 Dec 1856, unmarried, res. Lexington; George D. b. 15 Mar 1858, unmarried; Mary T, m. E.C. Knowles; Catharine F., b 25 Mar 1864, m. D.C. Belt. Benjamin F[8] (p 296) (James[7], Asa[6], Oliver[5], John[4], Jonathan[3], Joseph[2], John[1]) b. Sept 11, 1829, m. Nancy Griffin, res. Liberty ME (children: Alfred R., Charles T., Ida M, Franklin G., John H, David M., Benjamin F, Sadie M., Bertha E, Oswell A, Camilla G., Charles E.) Charles E [8] (p 296) (James[7], Asa[6], Oliver[5], John[4], Jonathan[3], Joseph[2], John[1]) b. 10 Oct 1830, m. Kate Canavan, res. San Francisco. Children: Charles E, Florence A, Walter F, John C. Gertrude C, Florence N, Charles H, George D. Franklin J[8] (p 296) (James[7], Asa[6], Oliver[5], John[4], Jonathan[3], Joseph[2], John[1]) b. 3 Jun 1832, m. Anna Atkinson, who died a few years after marriage. He has not been heard from since the war [Civil war?]. >From this, assuming it is complete, I'd guess that Franklin J[8] is your most likely possibility.
