If >he's right, I'm disappointed; I rather liked being descended from the guy. I have a copy of the Curfman article (somewhere!), and it did confuse me no end. It doesn't help that the J. F. Boynton genealogy is rather unclear about the generations between 1405 and 1614 or so, either. I thought at one point I'd figured it out, then read Curfman and decided that there wasn't enough hard data to make sense of. Obviously, having the head of the family executed for high treason puts a damper on one's wish or ability to commemorate one's lineage. As for "sinking" the Boynton book's line, I don't recall if Curfman did that precisely, or just called some assumptions into question. When I find my copy of it, I'll have a relook at it and report my conclusions (if any). > >On another note, does anyone know what the primary sources are for the >supposed Knapton/Wintringham origin of the immigrant Boynton brothers? >I've looked through the Wintringham parish registers, and there are plenty >of Boyntons, but none recognizable as ours. You're ahead of me there. But what about "visitation" records? Has anyone looked at them, if they exist? The Burton Agnes branch of the family ought to have had something along those lines, although I don't know if there are any descendants of Sir Matthew living. Y'all have a happy Thanksgiving!
