    3. My actual US Boynton line seems to be short by the standards of this list: John Boynton (the immigrant) +Ellen Pell Joseph Boynton (Capt.) +Sarah Swan Sarah Boynton +Samuel Tenn(e)y and from there on out they're all Tenn(e)ys. On the UK side, I understand from discussion over on ESSEX-ROOTS that there's a _Colonial Genealogist_ article by Robert Joseph Curfman that pretty much sinks the line to Bartholomew de Boynton given in the Boynton Book. I haven't read it (time constraints), and in any case I'm not well qualified to judge competing genealogical claims; I'd like to know if any of us have developed an informed opinion on Curfman's contentions. Among other things, he tells us that we aren't actually descendants the Sir Henry Boynton who was executed in 1405 for his role in the plot to overthrow Henry IV (but instead of his brother Christopher Boynton). If he's right, I'm disappointed; I rather liked being descended from the guy. On another note, does anyone know what the primary sources are for the supposed Knapton/Wintringham origin of the immigrant Boynton brothers? I've looked through the Wintringham parish registers, and there are plenty of Boyntons, but none recognizable as ours. NT
