I don't list any spouse or children or death date for him, but his birthdate seems appropriate to be your Polly's father. Here is the lineage for my candidate (all mentions of "Rowley" refer to Rowley, Essex Co., MA): 1. John BOYNTON, b. 1614, Yorkshire, England, d. 18 Feb 1670/71, Rowley + Elin Pell, b. 1612 England, d. 5 Aug 1689, Rowley 7 children, including 1st child: 2. Capt. 3. Hi, potential cousins: Just subscribed to your list. I am looking for connections to the Boynton family. Any help would be greatly appreciated. In the following family group, "ca" means I have some reason to tie a date to this year; "est." is a guess, and can be off by 2 to 20 years. The family is associated with Mt. Holly, Rutland Co., Vermont; if a place is included I have at least a secondary source for it. This is ALL I have at this point: -------------------- Nathaniel Boynton father of Polly Boynton b. ca 1773 d. 10 Mar 1808 Mt. Holly, VT m. est. 1795 Cavendish, VT? Edmond Tarbell Edmond Tarbell b. ca 1767 d. 11 Sep 1843 m1. est. 1795 Cavendish, VT? Polly Boynton children, surname Tarbell all born Vermont, all but Polly born Mt. Holly, VT, she probably was too Polly b. 26 Jul 1796 Dorcas b. 2 May 1798 Lony [sic] b. 20 Jan 1800 Calvin b. 16 Mar 1802 Sally b. 22 Feb 1804 Luther b. 11 Apr 1806 Polly (Boynton) Tarbell d. 10 Mar 1808 from her extraordinary regularity in delivering children, her death was quite probably in childbirth or from complications of pregnancy Edmond m2. 5 May 1811 Mt. Holly, VT, Sarah "Sally" Shaw children, surname Tarbell, both born Mt. Holly, VT Edmond Fletcher b. 24 Mar 1812 Fanny b. 6 Oct 1815 -------------------- My line continues from the above, all in Vermont: Polly (Tarbell) Williams 1796-1875 Charles Otis Williams 1821-1912 Emmett Emile Williams 1854-1942 Guy Emmett Williams 1880-1961 Ruth Alice (Williams) Dutton 1908-1979 Kathelyn Mae (Dutton) Martin 1928-living Darrell Allen Martin 1949- (me!) 1. [BOYNTON-L] BOYNTON/PORTER GENEALOGY WEBSITE
    2. For anyone interested in Boynton or Porter genealogy of lines primarily from: BOYNTON - Essex Co.,MA; Washington Co., ME; Belknap Co., N.H. PORTER - Washington Co., ME with ancestry from Annapolis Co., Nova Scotia; Grand Manan Island, Charlotte Co., New Brunswick, Canada I'd like to submit the following URLs from my website: http://home.att.net/~cascobaylife/ then click on GENEALOGY:Boynton/ Porter Family Tree or http://home.att.net/~cascobaylife/geneal.html The site is still under construction -collateral lines need to be added, however, should you be interested in what is already published, please print yourself a copy or save to disk for your noncommercial use. Unfortunately, I have to move out of Portland and will probably be unable to use my current ISP for more than another month since there probably won't be a local access number for same. I may have to redo all webpages and HTML code totally if I have to get a different ISP. Have not used any standard genealogy software - "did it MY WAY" with AT&T tools. Here goes: 1) Go to this site online: http://searches.rootsweb.com/roots-l-html If the above URL works, you should have arrived at a sheet which shows Query: In the block underneath Query, type: Boynton-D and enter (I don't think this is case sensitive so you can type it as you wish.) Underneath the block select the year you want to search (I think Boynton will have 1999 and underneath that 1998) You will receive a list of the digests since the List was started - up to 50 at a time if there are that many. The list will show you subject, digest no. etc. I find it easiest to click on FULL which will then give you a full digest at a time, etc. I hope this works for you. 3. Adding to my earlier message, I should also say that the names I looked up info on are only those Gene mentioned. I did not look for any other Boynton families in Maine. It's possible Augenette Boynton was from a different family from the one Gene mentioned. There were Boyntons in Maine since before 1750, so there could have been other families with offspring that might have been his progenitors. Here's some info on the possible candidates, from the Boynton genealogy by John F. & Caroline Boynton (1897). The numbers in square brackets are the order of generations from the immigrant. David T.[8] (p. 296). (James[7], Asa[6], Oliver[5], John[4], Jonathan[3], Joseph[2], John[1]) b. 6 Apr 1828, married Mary M., dau of Thomas and Nancy (Sherman) Harbuch of Worcester, MA June 21, 1954. He moved to Ohio in 1865, where he purchased a farm and half interest in a large flouring mill, which business he carried on until the fall of 1870. In the winter of 1873 he sold his farm at Willoughby, and purchased a larger one at Mentor, near the home of President Garfield. In 1876 he traded his farm in Ohio for another near Lexington, KY where he has since resided [in 1897]. Their children: Henry H. b. 8 Dec 1856, unmarried, res. 3. Good Morning: I am new to this list. I am looking for the family of Augenette Boynton. She was possibly from the Hampden or Kenduskeag area of Maine, and married George Hamlin Stetson sl. before 1872 (the date Nellie M. Stetson was born). There were, in Maine, David T, Benjamin, Charles E (who had 13 ch.) and Franklin J., all born at an appropriate time to be her father, and of whom I know nothing more. I found their names on one of your member's site.) There may be more Maine candidate families also. She may have had another given name. She may be listed as an unknown dau. as she probably disgraced her family by running away with another man after having three children by her first marriage listed above. Any help would be much-appreciated! 'Gene Hubbard

    3. Hi Randy, Thanks for writing. . . . I am a descendant of William's brother John. The best I can do is refer you to two of the most comprehensive sites on the Boynton family. The first is Dr. Quine's site which provides a summary of the Boynton ancestry back to about 1067. From what I understand, there are about a dozen different lines proposed for this ancestry but they are all in agreement on many points. There is an ongoing discussion in the "guestbook" area at this site that will help you to sort through current thought on the subject. The address is: http://hometown.aol.com/drquine/boynton.html The next site is the American Boynton Association. I think they have more on your William than on my John. That address is: http://www.pluvoy.com/amboynton.html When you are finished, I invite you to take a look at my own Boynton website to see how we are related. The address is: http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Meadows/1449/welcome.html I hope this all helps you . . . . Good luck! : ) Mark Wentling
