I have a Samuel Boyle (age 20) who with wife Catherine McAuley (21) arrived in New York City from Ireland in 1850 and in 1851 the family joined two Boyle brothers, names unknown in Philadelphia. All were stonecutters, reportedly from Donegal.(Note: Possible names for one unknown brother is "William). Samuel and Catherine had two sons, John J. born 1851 in N.Y. and William D. born 1852 in Philadelphia. John J. Boyle became a famous American sculptor noted in Philadelphia for his statue of Ben Franklin now on U. of P. campus. William D. Boyle, my grandfather owned several taverns in South Philadelphia. Looking for Boyle's in Philadelphia or elsewhere who may be relatives of the two elusive brothers or any Boyle who thinks he may be related to this line. John Mellon
