    1. [BOYLE-L] John BOYLE and Robert WELCH, Fisticuffs, Brown Co OH, 1840

    3. Dear Researchers of the BOYLE Surname, A book of court records of Brown County, Ohio included the intriguing case of one John BOYLE and Robert WELCH, who were found guilty of engaging in fisticuffs in Perry Township, Brown County, Ohio and were fined. The date was 1 Sep 1840. The obvious question is: Who was this John BOYLE? I am researching TWO John BOYLEs, either of whom could have been the pugnacious John BOYLE whose swings connected with the long arm of the law. My two candidates: 1. John BOYLE, born 1825, Garrard County, Kentucky. The 1840 Census recorded John BOYLE's parents in Clinton County, Indiana, but did NOT include their son John. By 1850, the whole family was living in Lewis County, Kentucky, on the Ohio River, almost directly across the river from Perry Township, Brown County, Ohio. 2. John BOYLE, born about 1798 in PA, married Sitha CAIN in 1834, Greenup County, Kentucky. Was a shoemaker. Please let me know if you have identifying information on the John BOYLE of the 1840 fist-fight. Thanks! Randal W. Cooper <[email protected]> Lorain, Ohio
