In 1315 the Battle of Connor was fought. This a major victory for Edward Bruce in his invasion of Ulster. Edward, of course, was the brother of Robert the Bruce and had been invited to join the O'Conors , O'Briens and O'Neills in an attempt to over through the invading Normans. Edward won 18 battles until he was slain at Dunkald. One has to wonder what might have been if the Gaels of Ireland and Scotland could have formed a steady alliance against the Normans.
