His naturalization papers are dated April 1872. I thought that you had to be living in the states for five years before you applied for citizenship. That would be 1867. My ggrandfather was born 1868 in England. So what year would I even start looking for? Ellis Island was not operating at that time so where would I start to look for records? I'd appreciate your insight about this as I don't know where to start? Thanks, Alannah
