I don't even know if this Charles Boyle relates to my Boyles. What I do know is that in 1924 my grand-aunt, Mary D. Boyle, was sent a postcard by her brother in care of Dr. Boyle in Hazleton, PA. The Boyle family living at the address on the postcard, according to the city directory, was the Edward Boyle family, whose parentage I have traced back to Charles Boyle. There was no Dr. Boyle in the city directory, so that may have been a joke. From the few postcards retained, my grandfather's humor appears to be a bit quirky. This particular card says, "Come west, wheat sells for $1.50 bushel" Was it just a coincidence that Mary Boyle was living in the Edward Boyle household? Was she a lodger or a relative? And somehow, I bet, that this Edward Boyle family ends up with the present Boyle family that has owned the Boyle Funeral home in Hazleton. My lineage starts at John Boyle, a tailor, who was in Carbon county in 1850 and moved to Hazleton sometime between the 1850 and 1860 census. Pam
