Larry Just west of West Kilbride is a small piece of land that juts out in the Clyde River. At the northern end of this was the Hunter's land and the next area was the land of the Fairlie's of that Ilk. So the name might have been "cut" down or just misspelt from that. While next to them was the Boyle's, with the Boyd lands surrounding them from Largs to Portencross.
