    3. Harriet This sounds like Captain (Army) Joseph Coffin Boyd (1760-1823) who moved to Portland Maine soon after 1784 and married Isabella Southgate and they had 14 children This family is outlined in the book "history of the Boyd clan and Related Families, Frederick Tilghman Boyd, 1962. While a number of things are listed for his life, but there was no mention of shipbuilding. They say that "he went into trade" which might suggest he was a shipping merchant or someone who was involved with the import export trade. Perhaps this be an area that some of our New England cousins might like to put on their research list. Thank you Mike Boyd -----Original Message----- From: Harriet E. I vaguely remember that He was the father of 14 children. Has anyone traced their BOYDs to this man? Harriet in NH
