Hi All I have come across one Charles Boyd on the English 1851 Census, his occupation "Surveyor General HM Customs". As such, I believe he is the author of the above publication. His age on the census is 69 and it states that he was born in Nova Scotia. Other sources have suggested that the author was born in Scotland and directly descended from William Boyd, 4th Earl of Kilmarnock. As of yet I have been unable to find some confirmation of this. Gareth See if your local Library can find who the author of the above book is? They may also show when Charles Boyd died. Also seeing he was an author, could his death be recorded in something like The Times or some other London Newspaper. So does anyone know if these London Newspapers have an online Index?
