    1. [BOYD] What USA States have books on Founding Families?
    2. Mike Boyd
    3. During my visit to the Greenville Library, South Carolina in 2013, I found the book Founding Families of the State of South Carolina published in 2000 A. D. In this book to become a founding family you had to be in South Carolina before 23 May 1788. I am not sure if this applied to other US States founding families. It raises the question as to which other USA State might have similar books, especially those States in the East Coast of the USA. In this situation these family trees are a direct tree, with the Boyd name occurring in the 1900’s. I know from the 1790 US Census that there were quite a number of Boyd families there in 1790, so I assume that quite a number of Boyd families form South Carolina would qualify to be a founding family of South Carolina. 3. Mike, I just received my American Canadian Genealogical magazine published four times a year and it lists several books of interest on families in New England especially the French.  But has soem English Irish names.  I know of a Boyd family in Canada that have built a very landed timber industry. Several Irish came in through Canada, at Grosse Isle and were interred till found free of disease so that's another place to look for Irish ancestors. You might be able to see the publication online www.acgs.org. There email is [email protected] Thank you for sharing your research and info. Harriet E. 3. Harriet and others Would those Boyds be the family of Mosson Boyd of Bobcaygeon Village, Emily, Victoria Co., Ontario. He is part of the family of Boyds of Ballymacool, Letterkenny, County Donegal who arrivied in Letterkenny in the early 1600's. I think the family later had a large house in Montreal Is that the family you have found? Mike Boyd Historical committee, hBS -----Original Message----- From: Harriet E.
