    1. Re: [BOYD] [IRL-ANTRIM] Boyd Persons at the "Siege of Derry"
    2. Mike Boyd
    3. Thank you Dick. I suspected that these 6 people MIGHT HAVE BEEN part of the Boyd of Ballymacool, Letterkenny, County Donegal, but when I searched that Family Chapter, I could not find any possible links. These Boyd fled Letterkenny before the Siege and put their records in the Church at Raphoe and then went to Londonderry City. King James's men burnt the Raphoe Church and these Boyd's records. By 1689, there were Boyd families in Londonderry City and quite a number of families in an around Coleraine from which these 6 might stem from. >From where was Colonel Michelburn's Regiment recruited? That may give a guide as to where these 6 Boyd's came from. There were three brothers, James Boyd, bc 1700, William Boyd and John Boyd (younger brothers) who came to New England in about 1720. In two books on brothers James Boyd and John Boyd, they claim that their father was a Captain James Boyd. While below, we have a Captain James Boyd who was killed in Londonderry City in 5 July 1689. So could HE BE THE FATHER OF THESE THREE SONS? If that was the case they would be a lot older than estimated in these books. Or are we looking for a second Captain James Boyd? Thank you Mike Boyd Brisbane, Aust. -----Original Message----- From: Dick Stewart Sent: Wednesday, January 08, 2014 3:24 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [IRL-ANTRIM] Boyd Persons at the "Siege of Derry" Mike; In the 1932 publication by William R.
