    1. Re: [BOYD] Helping other Boyds with research - Shelburne Falls, MA Library

In the past year or so I have sent several emails, and made some phone calls, each time to only be told that they no longer had the staff to help, blah, blah, blah. If that fails do you either ask your local Library if they can help search the Shelburne Arms Library list of books? The local library here has also gotten the same reply, so I am thinking that Springfield might be the next place to check. This evening I have been looking at the NEHGS website, primarily at the Births, Marriages, and Deaths in Shelburne for Boyds as contained in the books of vital records for events which occurred in 1850 or earlier, There were 26 which occurred 1620 to 1801, and 49 between 1620 and 1851. The fathers for the births prior to 1801 were David, John, Samuel and Thomas. The same four names were repeated in the group prior to 1851, without any additional given names. It would seem logical that some of the fathers in the second group were among the sons in the first group. So there was John, but no James nor William as fathers. There did not appear to be any James' or Williams as sons either. This has been interesting, but it seems to disprove Captain James as the father of John Senior. Now I need to start over to try to determine John's parents. At least there is quite a bit more available online, with primary records made more obvious. <Grin> Patricia
