I believe Montgomery Co. MD; Washington and Frederick Co., MD  was taken from Prince George's Co. in 1776.  Why it is so hard searching records. Some Boyds I am sure got lands after serving in Revolutionary War and may be why they moved into a Wilderness as I would call it.  Travelling 20 miles to a Court house from Browntown area, VA to Woodstock Va Court House.  Front Royal, Warren County, VA didn't exist until 1836 when it was formed from parts of Frederick Co., VA, Shenandoah Co.
