Patricia It is not a question of when John Boyd died in Shelburne Falls, BUT if he is the same person who is said to have come with brothers James Boyd and William Boyd from Ireland in about 1720 and outlined in Arthur S. Boyd's book of 1924. John Boyd is the most common Boyd name, so can be quite easily confused with other John Boyd's. Oh! what does the death certificate of John Boyd of Shelburne Falls tell you about him and his family - how long in USA, where born, parents, etc I am hoping that some of the male Boyds from James Boyd's family and John Boyd's family have undertaken their 67 DNA marker test and compared their results. From my limited knowledge of DNA, they should be one marker difference which I think means that they have a common father. There is an fourth son, Samuel Boyd born 1718 at Knockavaddy Rock, between Cookstown and Dungannon, County Tyrone that people claim is also part of this same family. The eldest son of Samuel, James Boyd, came to South Carolina in 1795. So hopefully male Boyd members of this family can compare their DNA test with the two New England families to confirm (or not) that they came from the same family. After the snow clears, do you wish one of our New England/New York cousins to take a nice county drive to Shelburne Falls Library? Colin, I have copies of the death records for both John Boyd, Sr. and his wife Margaret Long, both of whom were recorded as dying in Shelburne Falls. Patricia
