Boyd, 1978 (Allen County Public Library Number GC 929.2 B691BK ?), says that “the family lived near Schenectady before James went to Oneida County, New York.” While this books begins with saying “James Boyd was born in 1781. The History of Oneida County, New York says he was a native of Rhode Island.” Unfortunately, this quotation does not say where in Rhode Island this James Boyd’s family came from? In the 1790 US Census it has these three entries for Boyd families BOYD,Andrew RI Co:Kent Twp:East Greenwich BOYD,James RI Co:Providence Twp:Johnstown BOYD,Samuel RI Co:Providence Twp:Providence So could one of these families be the parents of this James Boyd born in 1781?” Do any list members live near Oneida County, NY (after the snow clears) who maybe able to look up this book to see if any location is given in Rhode Island for where this James Boyd might have come from.
