My initial response was an "generic" request for all Boyd researchers when they find Boyd data that is not part of their own Branch of letting the list know that X Library is hold Y book/publication on the Z Boyd family. While at various times various researchers will ask for a look up of specific Data on their own family which they can't get access to because of distance. During my trip in June 2013, while at the Allen County Library, I did copy Arthur Boyd's book of 1924 and I have been typing up the family of the first son of James Boyd, the father, called James Boyd of Berwick, Maine. The early details of Arthur Boyd's are not very clear - with dates and locations - and 2014 might be a good year to update this publication. >From both Arthur Boyd's Book and Richard G Boyd's book of 1993 on the family of James Boyd, son John Boyd of Shelburne Falls, MA, they both say that the father of the three brothers was a "Captain James Boyd" of Ireland who was the first Earl's son. I have disputed this claim for over a decade. However, when I was typing up Arthur Boyd's details into a family Chapter, I remembered that several Boyds were Officers at the Siege of Londonderry. There was one Captain James Boyd who was killed on 5 July 1689 in Shipquay Street. So this person MIGHT BE THE FATHER of these three brothers but their birth would be much earlier than the 1700-1705 period suggested by both books. If this Captain James Boyd is not their father, then we have to find a second Captain James Boyd in Ireland. So remember members when you find new Boyd information for yourself TELL THE LIST and if MEMBERS ask for assistance in finding data AND YOU KNOW that it is in your local Library let the member know that you could VOLUNTEER to do a look on your next visit in few days or few weeks. Hopefully in Patricia's case, we can get, or already have, a male Boyd from each of James Boyd and John Boyd's families who can confirm that they are actually the two bothers mentioned in both books. It has been researched adnauseum. The living descendant and Mike disagree on the possible origins, but the names of "who" are pretty clear. Anyway, I emailed Patricia and asked this question- "what do you want us to find?". I hope she joins the Boyd list. Everyone needs to list what you have and WHERE you found it. Then you can ask us to do lookups that are valid. I'd love to see her source for the origins of the above family. I'm pretty sure no one has made that definitive connection for John Boyd of Shelbourne Falls, Massachusetts.
