Thank you Nancy. There is a link between the Irvine family with the Boyds of Compass, PA who later went to Halifax County Virginia and both had ferries on the Dan River near South Boston, VA. (Their ferry's help General Greene Army to escape Cornwallis over the Dan River during the War of Independence.) Hay is another name that is closely linked to the Boyd, but I am not familiar with any Boyd/Hay migration to PA. Is "Glenaron, county Antrim" a townland or is it the spelling Corruption for "Glenarm"? Are any of our Antrim list member researching John Foster and William Irvine family Nancy do these records say where the 6th Pennsylvania Battalion was recruited. Hear I am thinking if the County area is known in the USA, it will help those County Antrim researchers to find their relatives in America. Hopefully the reverse will apply in that if many of the members of the 6th were Irish, they either can from County Antrim or even specific towns within Antrim, so that those researching their family in the USA know likely areas within Ireland that they need to start researching their family. More work to be done Thank you Mike Boyd Brisbane, Aust. -----Original Message----- From: Nancy Neuman Sent: Friday, February 14, 2014 3:52 AM To: [email protected] ; [email protected] ; [email protected] Subject: Re: [BOYD] William Boyd born in Ballumenaugh, County Antrim Ireland Mike: I went to the library and looked up this information. It is not on page 181, but on page 174. The Captain is Samuel Hay not Hoge. I assume I can't attach a scan of the pages so I am pasting excerpts. I included a sergeant Foster because he is from the same town in Antrim as William Boyd. I found another William Boyd as corporal with no home listed and a private Abram Boyd also of county Antrim.
