We know that there were very many Boyd families in the NW corner of South Carolina. Some came down the Great Wagon trail from PA and MD into SC during the 1700's while a good number also came directly from Ireland. (I can't recall if any Boyd families came directly form Scotland.) I also know that there links between the Boyds and Pattersons in Kilmarnock, Ayrhsire, but I do not know if any members of these families moved to Ireland and then to America.
