    3. Mike, This jogged a memory that my great great grandfather was said to be an Indian Agent, His name Varnum Boyd son of John Boyd and Jane Hefflon. I should check with the library of Congress and see if this is true. S. Court of Claims, 1906-1910, Volume 1, Applications 1 to 1550, Jerry Wright Jordon, There were about 10 or so volumes that I went through looking for Boyd entries and found a number.  However, they gave only parents and children but nothing that showed their link back to a Boyd family. As you will notice this material is for the “Eastern Cherokee”, so my mind asks if there is an “WESTERN CHEROKEE” nation.?  (Being any uninformed outsider) Over the last 15 years that I have been on the Boyd list, I have seen a number of claims that family say their ancestor was a Cherokee Indian.  So are their other reference Books that members need to consult? I can’t recall any individual Boyd family histories that make any claims.  So was this covered up a 100 years ago, when people started to write up their families? We know that quite a large number of (European)  Boyd families moved into Virginia, North and South Carolina’s, Georgia, Tennessee and Kentucky from the early 1700’s to the late 1700’s and so have taken an Indian spouse. So can we develop a list of reference books on the Cherokee nation that future Boyd researchers could use when they find out that GGGG grandfather/mother was a Cherokee Indian. 3. Harriet Which area were they Indian Agents? I know that a Colonel George Boyd and his sons were Indian Agents in Green Bay, (not sure if WI or MN). I think I was told that they had both an Indian and European families. David Boyd from Maryland told me in 2011, that there were Boyd Indians in North Dakota in one of the Sioux reservations. I would even assume in parts like Maine, New Hampshire, New York and Pennsylvania there were other Boyd's in the 1700's who married into Indian tribes.
