Ummm... NO, this Danville is exactly where it says it is. Danville, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania. If you Google Map, it is off Interstate 80 west of Interstate 81 in central PA. This is Indian land pre-1756, so no pale face lived here before then. Yes Danville PA is where it always was, but its counties changed. Danville was in Northumberland County until 1813 when it became part of Columbia County that was created out of Northumberland County. In 1850 Montour was founded and split off from Columbia County. Northumberland County was founded in 1772. Oops, my bad. I drive there from Shamokin, Northumberland County and keep forgetting I cross county boundaries. If you read the Northumberland County History from the 1800's there is much written of this John Boyd family. I wonder what Montour County has in their "history"? Friends After you know the location/s of your direct Boyd family tree, especially in the USA and perhaps also in Canada, you need to ask you local Library if there are any local histories for the County and the town that your family is said to have lived at. This will allow you to "see what was happening", to "ask question" and to find other sources of information about your family Mike Boyd Historical Committee, hBS -----Original Message----- From: Colin Brooks Sent: Saturday, February 08, 2014 9:05 AM To: boyd Subject: Re: [BOYD] John Cowen Boyd (1793-1849) & Hannah Montgomery of Boyd's Station Danville, Northumberland County, PA and Miss Helen Wallace's book Oops, my bad.
