A) In the 1715, the third Earl and his son, then about 10 years old, raised 500 mean from Kilmarnock and fought on the Kings side. However, as Boyds were quite common in eight other regions of Scotland, there could have been Boyds who fought on the other side. My GUESS if that happened it would be most likely from the Boyds of Ardgour, Argyllshire - but I have no indication of this. But they could have come from any region!! B) With Sligo being next to County Mayo where I know that the Boyd of Crosspatrick, between Ballina and Killala, settled in about 1716 my THOUGHT WHEN BRENDAN wrote to me was that his family might be part of that family.
