>From the book, History of the Boyd family and descendants, with historical sketches of the ancient family of Boyd's in Scotland from the year 1200, and those of Ireland from the year 1680, with records of their descendants in Kent, New Windsor, Middletown and Salem, N. Y., Boston, Mass., Northumberland County, Pa., and sketches of those from the southern and western states from 1740 to 1912. By William P. Boyd ... Rochester, N. Y., John P. Smith printing company, 1912, p 152, there is a list of New York [City or State?] families giving the name of persons by the name of Boyd to whom marriage licenses were issued by the secretary of the Providence of New York previous to 1784 as is now in the Records of the Archives at Albany of the State of New York. These records comprised several large volumes of marriage bonds. 1. James Boyd and Patty Huester, 22 April 1757. 2. Garrett Williamson and Catherine Boyd, 15 July 1757. 3. John Boyd and Annie Morris, 3 February 1761. 4. Geo. Harris and Mary Boyd, 20 Oct. 1762. 5. Samuel Boyd and Isabella Dolles, 20 January 1764. 6. Ebenezer Boyd and Sarah Merritt, 20 July 1764. 7. William Boyd and Ann White, 16 September 1765. 8. John Fitzmond Ferdinand Shultz and Elizabeth Boyd, 5 May 1767. 9. Peter Maybee and Sarah Boyd, 12 December 1769. 10. John Boyd and Helen Hewlet, 8 December 1772. Do any members have any of these couples in their family? The family of Ebenezer Boyd and Sarah Merritt is outlined as Family Chapter Boyd of Kent, Putnam Co., NY (Chapter 2/140) in Volume 2 of Clan Boyd of Scotland, by M. J. BOYD. (Yet to be published). In time it is hoped that Family Chapters can be developed for the remaining 9 marriages and included as a future Volume of Clan Boyd of Scotland.
