    3. I should have read a little further 'However, as J. H. Round demonstrated in his paper on the Cheney family (The Genealogist, new series, 18, p 13), the truth is the following: "Alan fitz Flaad married Aveline of Hesdin. They had two sons, William and Walter. Aveline of Hesdin, married secondly Robert fitz Walter of Caen. Aveline's second marriage produced Simon "de Caisneto" of Norfolk and others. So it would appear Rober FitzWalter came from Caen. I assume this is the same place that John Wayne made an air drop during one of his movies on D-Day Mike Boyd From: Mike Boyd Sent: Tuesday, March 11, 2014 10:52 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Fw: Any Boyd going to D-Day beaches this Summer in France Sorry hit send instead of copy Alan Ftiz Flaad, who married Eveline De Hesdin, Counts of Dol in Brittany. Evelene De Hesdin’s father’s origins I am not sure, except Barry Boyd of Dallas, TX did tell ne that he was the Treasurer for the Knights Templar and that Eveline was his sole heir. Eveline married for her second husband, Robert FitzWalter. When they married in about 111x, Robert was thought to have been the Sheriff of Norfolk (and both of his sons, most likely form a first marriage were also Sheriffs of Norfolk) but I do not know where in Brittany this Robert FitzWalter might have come from. So are there any members of this list whom might be able to provide more details about the Boyd’s origins pre Simon in Brittany? Thank you Mike Boyd Chairman Historical committee, HBS From: Mike Boyd Sent: Tuesday, March 11, 2014 10:43 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Any Boyd going to D-Day beaches this Summer in France With D-Day being 70 years ago, I assume that a number of our USA, Canadian and UK cousins will go to the D-Day beaches this year. I under this area is close to Brittany where the Boyd ancestors came from. So if you are going to be in this area for D-Day anniversary, COULD YOU take an extra few days to look in Brittany. Thank you Mike Boyd
