Greetings again, Would anyone have any information on a Samuel Boyd of Ballywindelland, Ireland in the 1700s most likely, now called Ballywindland? I’m sorry I don’t have much more insight to provide on that. I believe there could be others on the list who might be familiar with their own Boyd line deriving from this area and that of a Samuel Boyd in that approximate era? This would shed more light for me on my own line... Thanks in advance for any insight at all. Kind regards, Laury
Laury Ballywindland is about 4 kms NW of Ballymoney. It is between the River Bann and the Road to Coleraine. Besides Boyds in Ballymoney, there are about 10-12 Boyd families in all directions around this Town. I am not sure when Boyd families first went to Ballymoney but in "the Directory of Irish Family Research 2000, Tenants on the estates of the Earls of Antrim in the 17th century", Ian Montgomery, pp 80-81, it has this to say about the records available. This article has these entries 26. Margaret Boyd and Francis Boyd (her son), Carnmmon, 18 Nov 1675, lease of Ballycubidell [Cubbindall, P. of Ballymoney], Stradbally [Stradbilly], Carnmoone [Carnmoon], Carnboare [Carnbore], Sleightcolman [Liscolman], Islands of Carnmoon and Ballyhomlin [Ballyhemlin], all P. of Billy. D/2977/3A/3/1/29. 27. Thomas Boyd, Gent. of Ballynacree, 20 July 1637, lease of Ballynecree [Ballynacree], Cuolagaht [?] and Ballyvattock [Ballywattick] all P. of Ballmoney. D/2977/3A/3/1/6 28. Thomas Boyd, Gent. of Ballyneirie [Ballynacree, P. of Ballymoney], 21 July 1637, lease of Knockan [? Knockans, P. of Finvoy]. D/2977/3A/5/35/1 I am not sure if the two Thomas Boyds are the same person or two different Thomas Boyd Good hunting Mike Boyd -----Original Message----- From: skylaury@comcast.net via Sent: Wednesday, December 9, 2015 2:18 PM To: boyd@rootsweb.com Subject: [BOYD] Samuel Boyd of Ballywindelland c. 1700s, any knowledge?
