I did find Martha died 29 Nov 1927 in Greenock. John Bryson Murdoch was born about 1891 in Ireland son of Hugh McMullan Murdoch and Helen Bryson. Martha Boyd was the daughter of Thomas Boyd abt 1856-1901 and Rachel McMillan abt 1848-1910 I also found Hugh's burial information on the CWGC site and he died 23 Mar 1945. It has taken some work to get this. I finally had to break down and buy some credits from the scotlandspeople website to get what I need. I had to go back 1 more generation then forward again to make sure I had the right info. Anything else you could help me with Mike would be great. I think I have all 11 children of Thomas and Rachel but not sure of death dates. I have also found David Boyd and Helen McAtamney were Thomas's parents. Now trying to find their children. So do you know which Church they were married in? Those Church records might have their burial details. If the family lived in Greenock, have you contacted the Greenock Library to see what records they might have on this family? I am not sure if they have a Family Studies section in their Library or they may refer to the Paisley library. With Martha Boyd dying "only six months" after John Murdock's birth might suggest that she died in about 1925. With Hugh Murdock having died about 1945 in WWII, may suggest that he was killed during War service. If so, you should find his grave on the British Commonwealth War Graves Commission website. (Just make sure that you get the right Hugh Murdock.) I do not know what details they provide of next of kin, etc. What Church were Rachel McMillan Murdock and John Brown married in? Does that mean that her parents were of the same Church and therefore most likely buried there? That should give you their birth dates, etc. I think that the 1911 UK Census is the last UK Census to be released, so you find Martha Boyd's parents in those records, along with any unmarried siblings. There are several Boyd families in Greenock, Renfrewshire, so you will need to be carefully that you have the correct Boyd family for Martha Boyd. Greenock, was a seaport and manufacturing centre, so families might have come form other regions to work there. After you provide some more details, I am sure that others will be able to offer you other sources for both the Boyd and Murdock families. Hopefully, I can write to you later to day after I finish some other work I need to complete. This family lived in Greenock. They had 4 children that I know of Martha Murdock Hugh Murdock born abt 1922-1923 died abt 1945 during WW2 in Germany John Murdock who might of only been 6 months old when his mother died. Rachel McMillan Murdock born 16 July 1920 married John Brown born 28 Sep 1917. Martha Boyd might also of had a sister Rachel but I am not sure of this. I am find lots on the Brown side but not the Murdock or Boyd side. If anyone can help me or send me in the right direction I would so appreciate it.
