I have been thinking about Isaac Johnson that was on the genealogy.com. It was sent to me and the way it reads is that Isaac was the son of Benjamin Johnson b. 1740 Granville N.C., In the Historic Cane Families on page 169 quote, "In the Hotton's records give the following information:" "Thomas Johnston, single, with eight negro slaves came to Virginia from Ireland in July 1680." I question this because some of Hotton's records have been incorrect in the past. The information on Genealogy.com states that Benjamin was the father of Isaac. As far as I am concerned there were many Johnsons who came from Ireland and how do we prove that Thomas was the first of our Johnsons? Joyce
Joyce There were Boyds in Granville Co., NC, who were part of the Boyds of Dan River Crossing at south Boston in Halifax Co., VA. 2 of the brothers lived near the VA/NC border, so they did not pay taxes where the respective Tax collectors came from the other State. There are members of these families on this list so they may wish to look at the family tree to firstly see if they had any Mary Boyds and if they may have married an Isaac Johnson.
