What Boyds where in Boston, MA before 1708? In the website - HOYT | Shaking my tree - https://mjalc61.wordpress.com/tag/hoyt/ it says that George Boyd (1732-1787) father – George Boyd was born in Boston, Suffolk County, MA in 1708. It also went onto say that he was married 31 August 1730 in Newington, Rockingham, NH to Abigail Hoyt. Abigail was the sixth child of Elizabeth Haley and the fourth child of her second marriage to William Hoyt. But this source did not say who George Boyd (the father) parents were. So if this website is correct, it will mean that instead of Boyd’s first settling in Boston, Massachusetts in 1718, it will mean that this George Boyd’s parents arrived before 1708 and making them the first known Boyds in Massachusetts. Has anyone discovered any Boyd families in MA before 1708? And where did these Boyds come from – England with the Puritans; Scotland with the Covenanters or Ireland fleeing King James II uprising in 1689? Thank you Mike Boyd Historical Committee, HBS PS Last night I was working my way through some websites to get more data on this family which I will post shortly. Hopefully later to day.
