Members for some two decades I have had this family but do not know its origins. R1 John Boyd, b 15/11[1]/1725 (Ireland), d 6/7/1799 (Johnstown, N. Y.), bu Johnstown, m / /1757 (church, Co. Antrim[2], Ireland), Ann Logan, dau of and (nee ) Logan, b 1739, d 9/2/1815 (Albany, N. Y.), bu Johnstown, N. Y., and had issue:- [Lived: ] - In the spring of 1762, John Boyd, with his wife Ann Logan and three children, came to Albany, New York, where he became a prosperous merchant. He resided in Albany until 1793, when, as it appears on the Session Records of the First Presbyterian church, of which he was an elder, he removed to the country, meaning Johnstown, New York. There he established a saw mill in partnership with John Rogers, his brother-in-law, and died there. Antrim. WHERE? I know that three brother – Robert, James and Nathanial – from Ballyhalbert, Ards Peninsular, County Down came to New Windsor, Orange County, NY in the period 1753-1756. So did/could this John Boyd and family have also come from County Down – where there were Boyds since 1606. It is general known that in the migration, people form a given area followed others to new lands. So could this and other Boyd families in the Upper Hudson Valley have come from County Down? Are there any descendants of this family of John and Ann Boyd on this list and have you done a DNA best to test your origins.
