I have just received a private query about the family of “a William Boyd of Bedford County” – but no State given. It would appear to be Virginia as he settled on Flatt Crek. The query lists – Jones James Boyd who settled in TN, and His family history also tells the history of brother John and Francis but not Robert and not Joseph. He states family members lived in New Jersey which could trace the family back to Ireland and Scotland. It also states that this James Boyd was born in Augusta County, Virginia suggesting that the family came down the Shenandoah Valley before going east in Virginia. If my initial ‘GUESS’ is correct, it will mean that of the 7 or 8 Boyd families that we currently have for Bedford, Franklin Counties in Virginia can now be linked and traced back to the Old Augusta County, Virginia and to NJ and form there back to Ireland and Scotland. It will also link a number of Boyd families who now live in those western Counties in the horn of Virginia next to KY and TN. I will keep you posted as I get more information form this query.
