I'm sorry, Mike. I made a fundamental mental error in my first reply to this query. The Boyds that came shortly after the first crossing were William Irby, and Thomas. The oldest brother Benton was at william and mary college studying law. the two were still babies in 17 Their father was George son of John the first of the "four uncles" to die. He married Wilmouth Irby, the daughter of William Irby of Virginia revolutionary fame. (I incorrectly identified them as sons of George- son of Patrick, this is in error, sorry) Benton came over the mountain later and practiced law there in what became Nashville- his younger brothers Thomas and William Irby followed him into practice. They are some of the Boyd lawyers from the Slaymaker case.
