(I have yet to find a date for this second marriage.) 2) This Lord James Hamilton NEVER became Earl of Arran. His son and Heir became the Earl of Arran in 1506. (Sorry, I can't cite the source of the top of my head) 3) I have yet to find out why this title was given in 1506. Mike Boyd PS if any member of this list is also a member of the Hamilton rootsweb.com Net list, they might be able to which way the story goes from their side. -----Original Message----- From: Cal boyd via Sent: Tuesday, January 5, 2016 3:43 PM To: BOYD-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [BOYD] References to Kilmarnock Another thing that stirred things up was the marriage of Lord Boyd's son to the Kings sister, Mary. He was created the first Earl of Arran. When the Boyds fell from favor Mary was "forced" to marry a Hamilton and he was given the title Earl of Arran.
