    3. For anyone working with DNA, I recommend downloading your raw DNA to GEDMatch if you tested through Ancestry, 23 &me or FTDNA Autosomal and FTDNA X as you will have access to a broader scope to compare segments of chromosomes. Mine is now divided by maternal and paternal lines, allowing me to know which side a match is on and compare segments of chromosomes. Though my Boyd is on my paternal side, it has removed all the maternal lines on GEDMatch making it less of a needle in a haystack. I tested through Ancestry and I am in a Boyd circle but it still hasn't gotten me back another generation as we are all stuck at the same generation. 3. While some may dislike mtDNA, it clearly has genealogical implications. I won't waste your time on personal stories, just read the facts. "{Maternal line: the Mitochondrial-DNA is passed on from the mother to her children. All children from the same mother have the same Mitochondrial-DNA. A mitochondrial DNA test tells you where your maternal ancestors come from. The mtDNA test shows not only the origin of your maternal ancestors, but also with whom you are related in the maternal line. You can use the results of your mitochondrial DNA test both for searching for relatives all over the world or for a regional project." https://www.igenea.com/en/mitochondrial-dna -- Colin Brooks The 1718 Project CB1718project@gmail.com

    3. DY What is your earliest known Boyd? Can you give names, including spouse, dates and locations and the same for their children? Then the list might be able to SUGGEST some other avenues for you or make some connections.
