Folks, when you are going to travel for any reason, it is worth asking the list if any Boyds live in that area and if they can tell you what sources of family tree information there are available "in town" for the time you have to spare. Greenville Games are in late May each year and only held on a Saturday. But as there are about 60 Clan tents there, it is a good way to be able to contact spouse families to see if they might have information on your family. It will then give you a reason to call at your County Centre to find those missing pieces of information. Oh I have not got my maps sorted out form my move yet, but is Polk County TN in the Mountain County with the moonshine!!! If someone close can get started on this that would be great. I will be coming through Granville and New Boston on my way to the AGM in New Hampshire. This puts my arrival the week of september 11,12,13. I would love to meet any fellow Boyd researchers on the way. I also plan on one of those days being in Benton, Polk co, Tennessee. It is my plan to sort out some of the more confusing , unsorted Boyd families- specifically the Georges, Roberts, and Johns that so many of the Boyd family books have confused (Boyds Tank). I also plan on getting to the bottom of the Rae/Boyd DNA connection which I think happened in Pickens district South Carolina and should be reflected in the records. I will be nailing down the rout as we near the trip. I need a marriage proof to complete my American Boyd tree and I know it is in Halifax- but most of what I am seeking is in court records from Granville, co NC, and Danville, now Caswell County VA. So that I can tell the story of my Robert son of Robert and Lucretia oMally who settled after the war in Pickins district South Carolina. Also, the Pickens, SC courthouse is on my need to stop and research list if anyone is close to there for a meet up. If vacation time allows, I would like to stop in Lancaster Penn, the historical society there, on my way home September 19th and 20th. Barry in Dallas
