    3. As many of you will know in the 1790 US Census one third of the 3,300 listed Boyds came from PA. It is THOUGHT that most of these came form Ireland and most likely from the Northern Counties that now make Northern Ireland plus County Donegal. Many of these Boyds were in Chester County – which was an original County in PA. Then in 1729 Lancaster County was cut of from Chester and I assume at that time just ran “west”. I have about 20 Boyd Family Chapters for Chester County and about the same for Lancaster County. Hear are the 1790 entries for Chester County, PA BOYD,Andrew PA Co:Chester Twp:E.Nottingham BOYD,Catherine PA Co:Chester Twp:Fallowfield BOYD,George PA Co:Chester Twp:Sadsbury BOYD,Hannah PA Co:Chester Twp:Sadsbury BOYD,James PA Co:Chester Twp:Oxford BOYD,James Jr PA Co:Chester Twp:Sadsbury BOYD,James Jr PA Co:Chester Twp:Oxford BOYD,John PA Co:Chester Twp:E.Fallowfield BOYD,John PA Co:Chester Twp:Londonderry BOYD,Thomas PA Co:Chester Twp:W.Caln You can see the townships these Boyds lived in and you may be able to make a connection Hear are the Lancaster County 1790 entries BOYD,Alexander PA Co:Lancaster Twp:Martick BOYD,Charles PA Co:Lancaster Twp:Lancaster Borough BOYD,James PA Co:Lancaster Twp:Martick BOYD,James PA Co:Lancaster Twp:Salisbury [see ch 5/266 - S2/T3] BOYD,John PA Co:Lancaster Twp:Dunmore (This should be Drumore) BOYD,John PA Co:Lancaster Twp:Martick BOYD,John PA Co:Lancaster Twp:May Town BOYD,John PA Co:Lancaster Twp:Salisbury [see ch 5/266 - S2/T1] BOYD,Samuel PA Co:Lancaster Twp:Dunmore (This should be Drumore) BOYD,Samuel PA Co:Lancaster Twp:Lancaster Borough BOYD,William PA Co:Lancaster Twp:Salisbury [see ch 5/266 - g/s of S2?] So these 21 families must have quite a lot of descendants who have spread west and south. It would be quite a good idea to join Jean Burchett when she host the Boyd tent at the end of June. The city of Lancaster, has quite a good Library at the Lancaster County Historical Society (if you are not a member you will need to pay for the days research) Charlene Kemp and have been to this Library twice and pick up “most” of the Boyd data at that time. While it is not too far to go to the State Capital at Harrisburg and visit the State Library there. BUT YOU WILL HAVE TO MAKE SURE it is opened on the days you wish to visit. While some of the Philadelphia Libraries might also be quite useful to visit to see what extra data you can find including SPOUSE FAMILIES. If you can’t join Jean this year at the Boyd tent and make a visit to the various Libraries around Lancaster County – before or after the Games – you may wish to start working to build your tree so you can go in June 2017. Has anyone been to the Chester County Library and does it have any Boyd Family data in it? Mike Boyd
