The website wife of George Boyd of Compass, PA – Isabella Burns or not? In the website - George Boyd - Isabella Burns | FamilyCentral www.familycentral.net/index/family.cfm?ref1=15888:1814&ref2=15888:1815 It said that George Boyd was baptised on 31 May 1691 at Airth, Stirlingshire, Scotland and died 1731 at Gap, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. That in about 1709 in County Antrim, Ireland he married Isabella Burns, the daughter of Andrew Burns and Marion Beig. This Isabella was born about 1692 in Falkirk, Stirlingshire and died in 1749 in Pennsylvania. >From this data it would appear that George Boyd was married when he was only 18 years old. This seems a “young” age for a male Boyd to marry. So does it indicate his family had wealth in being able to support a wife at such a young age? Or does it indicate that these dates are wrong! >From this Family Central Family history Services site there is not indication as to what these sources are nor could I see any contact details for the sender of this data. The tree has Isabella the fifth child of her parents So can we “now accept” that George Boyd’s wife Isabella was “Isabella Burns”? Or has this website make a wrong connection between this Boyd and Burns family? For your discussion Mike Boyd Historical Committee, HBS
