    3. Hi cousins, I'm hoping against hope that somebody might have stumbled upon information relating to my 5th great-grandmother, Ann Boyd, who married William Finnie of Kilmarnock in Ardrossan in 1745. William's family had apparently lived at Constablewood near Largs prior to him moving to Kilmarnock. A Grizel Taylor nee Finnie (widow) moved there from Constablewood prior to William's marriage to Ann. I think that perhaps she had gone to Kilmarnock to care for his three children, born of his first marriage to Mary Wilson, following her death. I believe that William may have died c.1772, as there was an inventory done of an ironmongery owned by W.Finnie in Kilmarnock, in that year. My 4th great-grandfather, John Finnie, was born in Kilmarnock in 1762. He was apprenticed to James Arthur, a sadler in Ayr, in 1777....interestingly, the same year that his brother, Archibald, was listed as a nailer, taking on other apprentices. John moved to Piccadilly c.1796. There are a number of family gravestones in Kilmarnock, but William and Ann do not seem to have been buried there.....I certainly can't find any evidence either way. As there were said to be a number of members of various branches of the Finnie family buried at Millport on the Isle of Cumbrae, I am wondering if perhaps they may have been buried there. Again, I have so far found no evidence either way. Certainly, there were Finnies living there who had also come from Constablewood. I would be delighted to hear from anybody who might be able to help me unravel a little bit of this mystery. Cheers, Lynne. :)

    3. Members Does anyone have contact with this "Jennifer Byde on Ancestry.com"? If not, is there a member who is also a member of Ancestry.com who can volunteer to contact her please and say that I am trying to contact her about this Boyd/McWha family - which appears to come form County Down. I will turn tis limited data into a Family Chapter in Volume 11 of Clan Boyd of Scotland for those Boyd families form County Down.
