This is a most spectacular, still standing, visitable colonial era Boyd settlement. http://randomconnections.com/paddling-boyds-mill-pond/ Robert Boyd's mill on the Reedy river near Laurens in South Carolina As some of you may know I will be traveling across the south attempting to identify as many of these Boyd properties as possible. this was a working grist mill up until at least the 1950's.
